His story feels like the start of a new era and has a grounded small-town atmosphere, which gave the series new life and allowed its characters to be vastly different from what we had been seeing up to this point. Diamond is Unbreakable is filled with colorful characters that have very intriguing backstories and motives, and Josuke Higashikata is on the top of that list.
Of course, when a character is this interesting, it’s inevitable for fans to want to know more about them. And luckily for you, we’ve got you covered! Whether it’s facts or details that you might have missed, it’s never a waste of time to learn more about your favorite characters. So, here are the top 10 Josuke Higashikata facts that make him stand out!
In this article, you will learn these important facts about him:
One of the most prominent personality traits about Josuke Higashikata is the fact he gets angry whenever someone insults his hair. It does not matter whether it’s a minor critique or a full-on insult, he does not wait a second before giving into extreme levels of rage and begins attacking the person who says the magic words.
He does not hesitate from causing physical injuries and even goes as far as to use his stand, Crazy Diamond, to inflict further pain to the person who insults his hair. This eventually became the subject of many memes and is something that fans laugh at Josuke for, since there are many scenes within Diamond is Unbreakable which display the character raging over this topic.
So, what is the reason behind this? While most people assume that he’s just self-absorbed about his looks – the truth is very far from that. The real reason behind his extreme reaction is actually a matter of why he got the haircut to begin with.
At some point in his childhood, he had a terrible fever and his mother tried to rush him to a hospital in worry. Due to a blizzard, their car got stuck onto the icy road and as a result, they couldn’t get out of that spot. Just when all hope seemed lost, a person with the same haircut as Josuke came to their rescue and pushed their car outside of the spot.
Josuke never got to know the person or anything about him, and the only thing he remembers about him is the haircut. Thus, he styles his hair in the same way in respect to his hero and gets defensive if someone insults it – because he does not see it as an insult to his own hairstyle, rather an insult to the man who saved his life.
While many people have asked the author of the series Hirohiko Araki who the mysterious savior of Josuke and his mother is, he has refused to ever comment on that idea. Many fans theorize that it might have been a plotline that was later dropped or a potential time traveling Josuke – but since that was never elaborated on, it’s just a theory at the end of the day.
The only time JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure was adapted into a live-action movie officially was for the Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable arc. It was released in Japan on August 4, 2017, and covered only the first seventeen chapters of the manga – only barely teasing the main villain Yoshikage Kira in the end.
Naturally, this means that Josuke Higashikata is the central protagonist of the movie and he was played by actor Kento Yamazaki. The movie was not received that well by critics and fans are mostly divided on it. There were plans of making sequels to cover the next chapters of the manga but unfortunately, the movie did not make enough money to justify those plans. Since then, there has been no news of any potential live-action movie adaptions for the JoJo franchise. The closest thing is the limited series that is being created for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, which was recently announced.
Sometime around the release of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean, the creator of the franchise Hirohiko Araki was asked what his favorite characters are in an interview. He mentioned his top 10 favorite JoJo characters and on the top of the list was Josuke Higashikata, followed by Yoshikage Kira on number 2.
When asked to elaborate why he picked Josuke on such a high spot, he said it’s because of the character’s origin and personality. The town of Morioh is loosely based on a town that Araki lived in and he sees Josuke as someone that he would personally know in life due to his down-to-earth personality and simple life. Due to that, he relates to Josuke in a way and that’s why he picked him for such a high spot. As for Yoshikage Kira, it’s a no brainer – the character is pretty damn cool. Araki decided against added a childhood backstory for Kira because he felt it would make him too relatable for someone who happens to be a serial killer.
The list might have changed by now, though, since there have been many more characters in the franchise since, and most fans assume that Gyro Zeppeli would be one of the new favorites.
By the time JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable came out, we had four Joestar protagonists in line. Joseph Joestar and Jotaro Kujo have no issues killing their enemies, especially if it’s someone who they believe would somehow survive and come back to take more lives.
If you look away from the goofy moments in the series, you can see very easily how brutal the lives of Joestars can be and Jotaro has been known to have PTSD after the events of Part 3: Stardust Crusaders.
However, Jonathan Joestar was a complete gentleman and felt great remorse towards murdering his enemies, even if it’s someone as brutal and inhumane as Dio Brando. Admittedly, it did eventually cause him great harm as some of his enemies took advantage of this act of mercy and came back to fight him. But he never let it become a reason for him to become a killer.
Josuke Higashikata came right after Joseph and Jotaro but he is more similar to Jonathan Joestar in personality at the times he’s not extremely angry. Not only does he have a kind nature due to which he tries to help everyone, but he also tries not to kill his enemies in any case even if they are someone as vile as Yoshikage Kira.
This sets him apart from most of the other Joestars who do not shy away from making sure that their enemies never come back to haunt them again and gives him the same moral code as the likes of Batman.
Something that people who just started reading or watching JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable often wonder is how does Josuke Higashikata fit in as a Joestar. The answer to that can be a bit confusing, especially for people who might not remember the first three parts very well – but it all makes sense when it is explained.
Josuke is the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar, the second protagonist of the JoJo series. Within his marriage, he only had one daughter called Holly Kujo, who went on to giving birth to the next protagonist in line. But he had an affair with a woman in the town of Morioh, where the Diamond is Unbreakable arc is mainly set. She had a child from whose life Joseph was completely absent from and that is Josuke.
Josuke never knew or met his father until the story is almost over, so he only sees his father at the age of 16, while Joseph by that time is approximately 79 years old. It’s an unfortunate cycle of life for the Joestar protagonists, as none of them in the original universe (Parts 1 to 6) grew up with their fathers ever since Dio Brando started plaguing their lives.
Funnily enough, it’s even considered possible by fans that Joseph Joestar pretends to be senile on purpose by old age so that he never has to own up to the responsibility of having an affair while being married to his wife.

Something that people are usually confused about even after knowing the complete storyline of Diamond is Unbreakable is what relation Jotaro Kujo has with Josuke Higashikata. We all know that Jotaro is the grandson of Joseph Joestar, and Josuke surely isn’t the son of Jotaro or anything. But to be a Joestar you have to be related to the bloodline in some way.
So, just how does Josuke Higashikata come into the picture? And no, the answer isn’t Dio Brando using Jonathan Joestar’s DNA to reproduce like with Giorno Giovanna.
The correct answer is – even though Josuke is quite younger than Jotaro, he is actually Jotaro’s uncle. It sounds weird, but that’s the correct relation that the two Joestars share with each other because Jotaro is Joseph’s grandson but he is directly the father of Josuke. It’s further strange due to the mentor-like bond that Jotaro shares with Josuke throughout the storyline because the latter is the step-brother of Jotaro’s mother.
It can be a bit difficult to figure this family tree on your own, so if you want to see the full guide, click ‘here’ to see our article on the topic. And if you want to know 16 more interesting facts about Jotaro Kujo, then click ‘here’ to see our article that covers them!
The influence of western music in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise has always been very evident since the author Hirohiko Araki is a big fan of western pop-culture. This can be seen in character names and designs throughout the different story arcs since some of them are directly named after popular artists. A prime example of this is the fact that there’s a stand called Notorious B.I.G, and many people consider Yoshikage Kira similar to the singing-legend David Bowie too.
That’s what brings us to Crazy Diamond. Pink Floyd is an extremely popular band that has sold over 250 million records worldwide and used to make exactly the type of music that you would expect Araki to enjoy. One of their most popular singles is called Shine on You Crazy Diamond and it served as the reference behind the name of the stand that belongs to Josuke Higashikata.
Not only that, but the inspiration extends to the name of the story arc itself as Diamond is Unbreakable is a reference to the stand’s name, to begin with. Essentially making the entire thing an intended reference to the song, and by extension, the Pink Floyd band.
A little-known fact about Josuke Higashikata is that he’s a fan of international fashion trends. In the fifth part of the Sheer Heart Attack chapter, Josuke can be seen reading a book with the title of “Gianfranco Ferre” on top. While most people overlook this little detail, those who paid attention might have wondered what that’s all about.
Gianfranco Ferré was actually a very famous Italian fashion designer who was so well-received for his ideas that he was often regarded as the ‘architect of fashion’. It’s no surprise to see Hirohiko Araki take such an interest in international trends, and it’s only natural that it ended up being written into the storyline for one of the characters.
Whether Josuke is reading a biography about the person or a catalogue from his fashion brand is unknown – but it proves nonetheless that Josuke is very interested in the world of fashion and likes to keep up. Sadly, no matter what he does, people will always disregard it due to his haircut.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has acknowledged the fashion of other countries over time too, as there was a direct collaboration with the Italian brand Gucci at one point.
This is a topic as confusing as it is interesting. Something people don’t often realize is that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean is the ending of the original universe of the series. Since the beginning of Part 7: Steel Ball Run, the world of JoJo has been set into a new continuity where we only saw characters similar to their original counterparts return, but their personalities and looks were vastly different.
To further complicate the matters, this alternate universe is not the same as the rebooted universe that we see at the end of Stone Ocean, and this is something that Hirohiko Araki has clarified himself. So, we don’t see any familiar faces besides Diego Brando until Part 8: JoJolion.
The protagonist is called Josuke and he is not the same as the Josuke Higashikata that we know from Diamond is Unbreakable. The Part 8 Josuke has a very complicated backstory, in which he and a person called Yoshikage Kira (again, not the same person as the villain of Part 4) team up together for an important task and steal something from criminals.
Originally called Josefumi Kujo, this Josuke is eventually found by the criminals and they try to kill both him and Kira. After the entire situation is over, the two somehow fuse as human beings and end up becoming one person – who is then called the Josuke of this alternate universe.
It’s a very strange storyline but a good one when you begin reading it, as it’s even winning awards for its brilliant storytelling. It’s a great time to start reading it too, since the ‘main’ villain may just have been revealed in one of the recent chapters!
Although, if you wish to read this story solely to have more of Josuke Higashikata – you will be disappointed because of the fact that Part 8 Josuke looks and acts nothing like the Part 4 counterpart, and simply shares his name with him. There might be more similarities in the future, though.
Josuke Higashikata’s hobbies include watching TV, playing video games, and listening to music. Sounds pretty casual, right? And it is, too. But there’s a nice little real-world reference here and that is in the fact that the Josuke's favorite musician is none other than Prince.
Prince needs no introduction, but in the case that you may not know who he is – he was an extremely iconic and popular American singer who is considered one of the greatest musicians of his generation. With Hirohiko Araki’s interest in western music, it makes sense why he would slip in the detail within the manga.
And of course, what better way to do that than to give the interest to the one Joestar that he relates to on a personal level since Prince is actually one of the favorite musicians of Araki himself. But there is another reference present as well, and that is the fact the one character in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise that likes Prince has a very purple outfit, alongside the purple-ish hair color too.
Don’t get it? Simple. Purple Rain is one of the most popular songs of Prince and perhaps the one that he is best known for, as it has been referenced in international media dozens of times. So, not only is he a fan of Prince, but he’s also a living reference to him with the purple outfit that is no mere coincidence when you put all of the pieces together.
Unfortunately, Prince passed away in the year 2016 – long after Josuke was written to be a fan of his music. While the majority of the popular artists around the world publicly mourned the loss of the iconic musician, Araki did not seem to give any statement on the topic. Fans assume that the reason behind this is his disconnect from social media and that his accounts on the internet are seemingly handled by third parties.

]]>While some protagonists only show up once in their respective story arcs and never return even if they are still alive – there are a few Joestar protagonists who have showed up multiple times. Joseph Joestar is the second most recurring protagonist in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series and is known to have one of the funniest personalities out of everyone else. He’s serious and competent when necessary, but most of the time he’s a goofball and we love him for it!
With such a unique and fun personality, it’s only natural that the character came back so many times and has such a big fan following in the JoJo fandom. And of course, when someone is liked to this degree, people want to know more about them. Whether it’s facts or details that you’ve missed, it’s never a bad idea to learn a bit more about your favorite protagonists. So, let’s talk about the top 15 facts that make Joseph Joestar stand out!
In this article, you will learn these important facts in complete detail:
Joseph Joestar only showed up in the plot of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable for a short time. But his relevance in the plot extends far beyond, which can be seen in the fact that Jotaro Kujo mentions him a few times saying that if he wasn’t so old by now, he could have solved the issues in Morioh on his own. At one point, Jotaro Kujo is even mistaken for Joseph Joestar because they seem extremely similar in appearance.
However, there is something even more significant about him that makes him responsible for most of the events that play out in Diamond is Unbreakable and that’s because of the fact he’s the father of Josuke Higashikata. While he had Holly Kujo (Jotaro Kujo’s mother) in his official marriage, a little-known fact is that he also had a son called Josuke Higashikata in an affair with a woman who lives in the town of Morioh.
The name of the illegitimate child sounding familiar? That’s because he’s the main protagonist of the Diamond is Unbreakable storyline. Josuke lived without ever meeting his father until the story was close to the end, and that’s when they finally acknowledge each other’s existence.
Even though the JoJo protagonists are usually born with a gap of one child (grandfathers and grandsons) – Joseph Joestar is related to more protagonists in the franchise than anyone else. He’s the father of Josuke Higashikata as previously mentioned and he’s the grandfather of Jotaro Kujo as well. This of course makes him the great grandfather of Jolyne Cujoh as well.
His daughter Holly Kujo conceived Jotaro Kujo after getting married and was unfortunately abandoned after her husband found a different woman. That’s why when things take the wrong turn with Jotaro, she calls her father Joseph to help her out. And that’s what sets us off with the storyline of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders and we see the iconic Journey towards Egypt.

The third direct link Joseph Joestar has to the JoJo protagonists is the fact he is the grandson of Jonathan Joestar. Jonathan had a short life but managed to have a son called George Joestar II, who went on to become a father. Unfortunately for Joseph Joestar, his father died quite early in his life and his mother had to leave him after avenging the death of George in order to avoid being arrested by the police. He was mainly raised by his grandmother Erina Joestar throughout his life while Robert E. O. Speedwagon also visited and took care of him from time to time.
So, Joseph never got to meet his grandfather nor got to know much about his father at the end of everything, which is not surprising due to how tragic the lives of the Joestars are.

While Jotaro Kujo wins the title of the most recurring protagonist, the number two spot goes to Joseph Joestar. He has shown up in parts 2, 3, and 4 – being an important character in the first two and having a strong influence in the last one. And as you can see in the first three facts, he’s also directly related to many protagonists in the show and is mentioned often as a result.
This also extends towards external media as well, since he’s been included in almost every video game that exists for the franchise and has been in a lot of OVAs too. The fact that he has two different versions of his character (normal and old) and that he was around sooner than Jotaro has certainly helped him with this achievement.
Last but not least, he’s also one of the most popular characters in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise because of how funny his personality is and how influential he is to the entire series. So, with no other Joestar being similar to him outside of the raw strength, he’s a fan favorite for many.
The Joestars are cursed with short/tragic lives and it’s also said that they only love one woman in their entire life. Joseph Joestar is an odd exception as he is the longest surviving Joestar protagonist that we have seen so far in any part of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise. He survived parts 2, 3, 4, 5, and surprisingly, even 6.
While we’ve not seen him in parts 5 and 6, in his interview for the Shoukan Shounen Kagikakko magazine on April 5, 2003 – the creator of the franchise Hirohiko Araki said that Joseph Joestar is still alive by the time of Part 6: Stone Ocean, “just dumber”. This would make him around 91 years old, which is the longest recorded lifestyle for any JoJo protagonist.
In Enrico Pucci’s reset of the universe, only people that he directly killed are replaced with counterparts (such as Irene), and everyone else, even if a Joestar, remains untouched. So, if Joseph Joestar did not die as a result of time being accelerated as part of the reset, he should be alive even after the events of Stone Ocean are over.
Joseph Joestar is known for his hilarious personality, which is goofy in even the most serious situations. While many characters care about their reputation and honor, he simply prioritizes survival and winning above everything else. The prime example of this is the fact he considers running an actual tactic and runs away in front of hundreds of people if he has to in the middle of a fact.
While you might assume that he’s more mature by the time he’s an old person, the truth is far from that. Even at the age of 69 when he is revived by Jotaro Kujo after his near-death experience, he pranks his grandson by pretending that he is possessed by the spirit of their nemesis Dio Brando. He keeps it up until Jotaro is about to beat him up with his Stand and finally reveals that it was all but a joke. So, not only does he have a dark sense of humor – it follows him through his entire life even when he’s old.
Characters in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure either use Ripple (Hamon) or a Stand, but never both of them together. Joseph Joestar originally practiced the art of the ripple and used it in battle whenever he was up against a major threat. Not only that, but it is also the reason behind his prolonged life and youthful body even at the age of 69, as it is said that people who practice ripple have a boost to their respective lifespans.
Later on, he also unlocks his Stand which we know as Hermit Purple and used it in battles against his strongest foes. This makes him the only character to simultaneously use both of these things at the same time because, besides him, we only see characters either use the art of the ripple or just their stand.
If you want to know more about why Ripple (Hamon) stopped being common later on in the series, click ‘here’ for the article containing information for it!
One of the most prominent things about Joseph Joestar at the age of over 79 is that he is increasingly becoming senile and barely seems to be of a sound mind. It’s completely natural for someone as old as him but many fans were surprised to see this happen, especially since he is a practitioner of the ripple (Hamon). Although admittedly, he stopped practicing it due to a lack of motivation after a certain point, it’s still a shame for someone who was so youthful even at the age of 69.
What’s odd, though, is that he seems to regain his intelligence as soon as he adopts the Invisible Baby and seems to be of a sound mind immediately after that, at least to some extent. While the idea behind this is that he found the further motivation, he needed to focus on life and live longer (perhaps with a recontinuation of the ripple practicing) – many fans seemed to call out a potential bluff.
It is believed within the fandom that Joseph Joestar simply pretended to be dumb in all those years because he did not want to answer for the revelations of his adultery and abandonment of the illegitimate son. By acting senile, no one would confront him over his actions and he can live his remaining days in peace.
While this theory was never confirmed by the author, it does sound plausible and is exactly the kind of thing that Joseph would do given his personality.
While many of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure protagonists have fought against extremely powerful threats throughout their lives – the list mostly just makes up for simple human beings and Stand users. However, Joseph Joestar is an exception as he has fought many different types of enemies within the JoJo universe.
He fought Straizo the vampire at the beginning of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency and also vampire Dio Brando in Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. He also fought the Pillar Men who are a unique type of enemy, and many Stand users throughout his entire life in parts 2 and 3.
Jotaro Kujo and Jonathan Joestar also got to fight a vampire in the form of Dio Brando, they never got to fight the Pillar Men and that lowers their experience down by a notch.
Everyone knows the many hobbies of Jotaro Kujo and several of the other JoJo protagonists, but not many people know that Joseph Joestar has an entertainment-related hobby as well. And that is collecting and reading comic books and manga.
We even see this directly in one of the Battle Tendency chapters as he is reading a Superman comic in his teenage years, so his interests extend beyond his own culture as well. It truly makes you wonder if he ended up reading something written by Rohan Kishibe too at some point!
That’s it for our top 10 Joseph Joestar facts that you may have not seen before, and most certainly make him stand out. We hope that you learned a few new things today about the character, and if you know everything already – then you’re one of the most hardcore fans of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure out there! ]]>Making history as the only female JoJo in the series, she is very prominent for being a unique protagonist that goes through a great deal of character development throughout the story and her complicated relationship with her father is something that touched a lot of fans. Her personality, strengths, stand powers, and flaws are very distinctive and set her apart from every Joestar that we had seen until that point, much like her predecessor Giorno Giovanna.
Naturally, when a character stands out this much and has such an intriguing history with the most recurring protagonists of the JoJo series – there is a lot to learn about them! Whether it’s facts you didn’t know or details that you may have missed, you can never go wrong with learning more about your favorite protagonists. So, here are the top 12 facts about Jolyne Cujoh that make her stand out!
In this article, you will learn these important facts about her:
A fact not many people know about Giorno Giovanna is that series creator Hirohiko Araki originally intended for him to be the very first female JoJo in the series. However, to avoid potential issues with popularity the decision was taken back and Giorno was changed to a male character much like the previous Joestar protagonists.
According to Hirohiko Araki’s editor for Stone Ocean Hideto Azuma, Araki was originally requested to change the gender of Jolyne from female to male so that there isn’t a potential popularity issue since the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine the series was published in is mainly targeted towards boys. Fortunately, this time Araki did not want to change his decision and said that if the readers wouldn’t accept a female JoJo protagonist then that is exactly why he should make one, because the female fans of JoJo deserve some love too.
And thus, we finally had our first female Joestar protagonist in the face of Jolyne Cujoh and it all worked out in the end as she is one of the best-written characters in the franchise, and while people are divided over the ending of the Stone Ocean arc – the reception towards Jolyne’s character is mostly positive.
If you want to read 10 more interesting facts about Giorno Giovanna, then check out our article on that topic ‘here’!
Similar to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, which had half the name of the protagonist’s stand Crazy Diamond in the name of the story arc – Jolyne Cujoh’s stand does the same thing. Jolyne Cujoh’s stand is called Stone Free and the name of the story arc she’s a protagonist in is called Stone Ocean.
Interestingly enough, Parts 4 and 6 are the only times this happened as Parts 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 have unique names that are unrelated to the protagonists and their stands. The closest another story arc came to that is when the localized version of Part 5’s anime adaption is called Golden Wind, which somewhat coincides with Giorno Giovanna’s stand Gold Experience.
A rough guess about the reason here could be the fact the storylines of Parts 4 and 6 are very much centered around the protagonists themselves, while in other parts the story is usually more about the certain Joestars taking on something that is not personal towards them.
Due to the absence of a fatherly figure, Jolyne Cujoh is a very rebellious teenager who hangs out with all the wrong kinds of people, such as biker gangs for example. This has put her in many complicated situations and the very first time she went to jail was when she was wrongfully accused of pickpocketing at the age of 14. Due to the police diverting their attention to her over a small quarrel regarding a lost wallet, Jolyne panics and steals a car to drive off in an attempt to escape.
However, she’s eventually caught and is arrested for her criminal behavior. Fortunately, due to her jail and complicated family history, she is allowed release and becomes more careful from that point on. Even though she does not stop her delinquency, she does not end up in jail again until she is wrongfully framed for a hit and run in the beginning of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean.
Something that was common with the different Joestar protagonists over the years was the fact that their names kind of resembled the JoJo nickname and then the story would have their friends and family refer to them with it. It still applies to Jolyne Cujoh as she has a ‘jo’ in both her first and last name, but she dislikes being called that nickname unlike the Joestar protagonists before her and only gives her mother a pass to call her that.
It’s probably because she considers JoJo too cutesy to be called when her personality is very rebellious and brash. It could also be due to the fact Jotaro was called JoJo by those close to him as well and since she has resentment towards him over the abandonment, she might dislike the nickname due to that.
The reason that Jolyne Cujoh’s last name is spelled ‘Cujoh’ instead of ‘Kujo’ is because of her dislike towards her father. She wants to be as distant from him as possible, so she changed the spellings of her last name legally from Kujo to Cujoh just to have a different looking name out of spite.
A less-canon reason that fans assume often is that it might be a way to represent the fact she is a unique character with her own personality and shouldn’t just be seen as an extension of Jotaro Kujo. It is all very iconic though, as her catchphrase on the other hand subconsciously mimics that of her father.
The mysterious Stand Arrow in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series was something that was introduced in Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable and was eventually elaborated on and featured in some of the later parts as well. It originates from an unknown alien source and was originally in the form of rocks, and it caused a virus to spread that a few people could survive and the survivors would eventually gain Stand powers which we are all familiar with.
The rocks were then shaped into the shape of an Arrow and were split in approximately six at the time, and were discovered by the antagonist of Part 4, Diavolo. Since then, they have been spread around and featured quite a few times in different storylines.
Eventually, it ties into Part 6: Stone Ocean as Jotaro put a shard of the arrow inside a locket and gave it to Jolyne Cujoh’s mother, telling her to give it to Jolyne if she is ever in a lot of trouble. Her mother complies once Jolyne is framed for murder and thrown into the Green Dolphin Street Prison, and once she touches the shard it immediately awakens her stand for the first time – giving her the iconic Stone Free and all related abilities.
The Stone Free stand offers the usual stand-based abilities to its user such as aiding them in battle with close-range skills and is also pretty fast. However, what greatly sets it apart is the fact it grants Jolyne Cujoh the ability to decompose her body in the form of strings. The strings can be used similarly to the webs of Spider-Man in a way without the disposable aspect, as she can form enough of them together to hold onto things or use them as an attack. However, there are additional abilities such as making them so sharp that they can cut through flesh, making them pick locks, and even listen to people by decoding the vibrations if she sends a string close to them.
She can even create a bulletproof vest to guard herself from bullets with the strings, as well as capture enemies in a large net or tie them up together. And last but not least, she can even use the ability to stitch her wounds since it practically recreates those parts of her body. The only catch is that she can only unravel 70% of her body without harming herself and anything onward is dangerous – but she can form her body back quickly so it usually does not cause her any issues.
It’s certainly one of the most unique stands in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise and grants Jolyne a great deal of agility and versatility.
You must remember Jotaro Kujo’s iconic catchphrase ‘Yare Yare Daze’ which he says quite often in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Parts 3 and 4, and it translates to ‘Good grief’ in English. Jolyne Cujoh, despite not liking her father and trying to be different from her, has the same catchphrase in the feminine form which says ‘Yare Yare Dawa’.
It means ‘good grief’ as well and can also be used similarly to ‘damn’ just like Jotaro’s ‘Yare Yare Daze’, but Jotaro uses the male form and Jolyne uses the feminine one. It’s just how proper Japanese grammar works and does not mean anything different.
Jotaro Kujo grew up without a father, so one would expect him to understand the importance of having a father figure more than anyone else. Unfortunately, once his daughter Jolyne Cujoh was a few years old, he did the same thing as his father and left her and his wife all alone. Jolyne grew up resenting him as a result and tried to be as different from him as possible, leading a life full of delinquency and rebellion. Ironically enough, that kind of behavior at such an early age just made her more like him than not, but in her mind, this was her way of fighting back at his identity.
However, Jotaro’s reason for abandoning his wife and child are significantly different from what his father Sadao Kujo. Jotaro Kujo loved his daughter and wanted to live with her as a family, but due to his PTSD and knowledge of how many stand users related to Dio Brando still exist in the world – he could not feel at peace being so close to his family when anyone could try to kill him and his wife and child solely due to the fact that they are related to the Joestars.
As a result, Jotaro decided to distance himself from his family and never looked back, hoping that he can spend his time of loneliness to find and stop as many evil stand users that he can and believed that this will result in his family never having to suffer from any potential harm due to his lifestyle and history. He lied to them and never told them the truth, and his family just assumed he abandoned them for selfish reasons.
Unfortunately, none of this even worked out in the end as Enrico Pucci, Dio’s persistent follower, found his way into Jolyne Cujoh’s life anyway and started attempting to murder her every chance he could get ever since the false imprisonment begins. Jotaro could have just remained with his family and perhaps protected them even better.

Jolyne Cujoh’s story is extremely tragic, as she grows up without a father and spends most of her life in rebellious delinquency. However, her real troubles start when Enrico Pucci tries to kill her and she ends up in many different life-threatening situations trying to learn what is going on and hoping to put a stop to it.
Naturally, she had several people tag along with her in the journey and since she’s the protagonist, many people decided to protect from danger. Weather Report almost kills Enrico Pucci at one point, but dies because of an accidental distraction that Jolyne causes. Then she sees Narciso Anasui, Ermes Costello (Hermes), and Foo Fighters die trying to save her against the antagonist.
Then worst of all, Jotaro Kujo almost defeats Enrico Pucci as well but is distracted by a couple of knives flying towards her – and by saving her from the knives he is left vulnerable to Enrico’s attacks and is brutally murdered. She is the cause of her father’s death and has to watch him die right when they were finally beginning to make amends for the lost time.
Of course, it’s not exactly her fault that her father dies protecting her as Enrico is trying to kill her due to the fact that she’s Jotaro’s daughter, not the other way around, but it is still a fact that if it weren’t for protecting her, Jotaro had a perfect opportunity to put an end to Enrico for once and for all.
In the end, she is inadvertently the cause of all of her friends and father’s death because they just wanted to protect her and she has to live with that in the last moments of her life.
Once she loses all of the people close to her at the hands of Enrico Pucci and his stand Made in Heaven, only Emporio Alniño is left standing alive besides her. The reboot process of the world had already begun and there was nothing left to do at that point as Jolyne lacked the power to defeat Enrico on her own. Eventually, she decides to sacrifice her life to protect the child and is brutally killed by Enrico as a result in her last stand.
This gives Emporio enough of a window to escape from certain death at the hands of Enrico, and he manages to finally put an end to the antagonist using the Weather Report stand that he had inherited throughout the storyline once its previous owner dies. It’s a tragic way to die but closed Jolyne’s story arc in a beautiful and honorable way – a death worthy of a Joestar.
Eventually, this allows the last reboot of the world to be one where everything goes back to normal and everyone who lived in the world to be the same without even really noticing that anything happened. The only people who were affected were those who were killed by Enrico directly – which includes Jolyne and Jotaro Kujo. The Joestars managed to save the world and it wont have to suffer from the presence of Dio Brando or his followers ever again, all thanks to Jolyne Cujoh’s ability to let go.
Once the world is rebooted back to its original state after Jolyne Cujoh dies to save Emporio Alniño’s life and he proceeds to kill Enrico Pucci – everyone that wasn’t directly killed by Enrico return to their original selves without even noticing that anything happened minus some of the time acceleration at best.
What happens to the people who died at the hands of Enrico is that their souls are transferred to identical ‘counterparts’ in the new universe and they are reborn without the tragedy or influence of Dio Brando’s evil in their lives. As a result, they are practically new people who have not seen tragedy in their lives and the rebooted counterpart of Jolyne Cujoh is called ‘Irene’ in this new universe and is visibly less punkish.
Unlike Jolyne, Irene is actually on good terms with her father and is seen taking her boyfriend Annakiss (who is a rebooted version of Narciso Anasui) to meet her father in hopes of winning his approval for marriage. This is a significantly major change to her life as it means Jotaro never had to abandon his family and most likely peacefully lived with them.
Unlike Irene, we never see this alternate version of Jotaro Kujo or know if his name is different as well in this new universe. Unfortunately, we will never get to know more about these characters because:
Either way, this was the end of the road for Jotaro Kujo and everything that happened before and after his existence – and the world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure that we knew from Parts 1 to 6 have been concluded.

]]>Jotaro Kujo is no exception, and he is perhaps more beloved within the fanbase than any other member of the Joestar family. What makes every JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure protagonist stand out is that they are all unique characters with their different personalities, strengths, and flaws – unlike the usual generic goody-two-shoes we are used to seeing in anime.
Naturally, when a character is this famous and shows up in so many parts of the series – people want to know more about them! Whether it’s facts or details that you may have missed, it is never a waste of time to learn more about your favorite protagonists. So, here are the top 16 facts about Jotaro Kujo that make him stand out!
While in the canon, Jotaro Kujo and the Joestar bloodline’s fate as a whole is quite tragic – in an alternate world story penned for the video game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, things take an unexpected turn. The game is essentially a crossover of every single JoJo storyline and at the end of it all – the only two people standing are Jotaro Kujo and Heaven Ascension DIO.
This version of DIO has a special stand called The World Over Heaven that can erase anything it touches and he manages to defeat all Joestars using this power. However, Jotaro Kujo outsmarts DIO and manages to gain his powers of erasing and rewriting the world – and eventually he makes a perfect world for the Joestars where none of them will ever have to suffer from the curse of their bloodline. This automatically provides better fates to Jotaro Kujo and his daughter – especially since the version of Jotaro to do this was his 17-year-old self, which gives him the chance to be a better parent for the future.
Jotaro Kujo’s hat is quite often a topic of debate as fans cannot decide whether he wears a weird hat that is painted with the color of his hair or if half of his hair are somehow styled after his hat.
The answer to this is that he wears a special hat that he stylizes for himself which has a cut-off segment in the back which lets his black hair pop-out, while the top and frontal sides are the hat itself. It’s incredibly specific and stylish for a guy as serious as Jotaro – but if there’s one thing most JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure protagonists share it’s the fact that they don’t forget to look after their style even in the most tragic moments of their lives.
Jotaro Kujo is the grandson of Joseph Joestar and the son of a Japanese man called Sadao Kujo – but he does not look like his father. Instead, he is supposed to look like Joseph Joestar and it’s quite obvious from just looking at the two of them together as well. While not too incredibly obvious in the manga since Hirohiko Araki’s art-style keeps changing, it’s quite clear in the anime adaption if you pay attention.
However, this is more directly confirmed in the anime when Jotaro Kujo meets Josuke Higashikata’s mother and she confuses him for Joseph due to how similar the two look despite the age. And she can’t be blamed for not seeing the age difference too clearly anyway since she seems fairly young herself and Josuke is not that old as a son anyway. Even Jotaro’s response is that ‘look, no wrinkles’ which goes to show how similar they must look.
Firstly, this is speaking only of the original universe as every part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure after Stone Ocean takes place in an alternate universe. Since Jotaro Kujo is present in so many different parts of the series, he has met Joseph Joestar, Josuke Higashikata, and Jolyne Cujoh. It’s obvious why he couldn’t meet Jonathan Joestar since he passed away way before Jotaro was ever born.
However, the one Joestar he never met despite both of them being alive and not that far from each other is Giorno Giovanna, the technical son of Dio Brando but biological son of Jonathan Joestar. He does ask Koichi Hirose to collect a sample of Giorno’s skin to see if he really is related to Dio Brando – but he does not see it fit to chase him personally to find out. Another important detail is the fact Koichi comments ‘he kind of looks like you’ – which is natural because they are technically related and descendants of Jonathan.
If you want to read 10 interesting facts about Giorno Giovanna, then check out our article on the topic ‘here’!
Holy Kujo is an important part of Jotaro Kujo’s life and is always clinging to him no matter how bad things get or how inappropriately her son behaves. She is also the main reason Jotaro and Joseph Joestar embark on their journey to kill Dio Brando, as doing so would save her life and cause her unusable stand to be suppressed for good.
His father, on the other hand, is a topic we barely ever see being discussed nor do we see his identity. That’s because he was barely around in Jotaro’s childhood and used to be absent due to tours related to his job – and after a certain point he fell in love with a different woman and never came back to Holy or Jotaro, leaving Jotaro without a father figure for the rest of his life as Holy never found someone else. The fact Holy never remarried could be related to the trivia ‘Joestars only love one woman in their life’, as it’s entirely possible that female Joestars only love one man in their life too.
This is often correlated to Joseph Joestar saying ‘I’ll never forgive the Japanese’, since Sadao Kujo was a Japanese man and left his daughter and grandson all by themselves.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure does not have protagonists return very often. Jonathan Joestar, Josuke Higashikata of the first universe, Jolyne Cujoh, Giorno Giovanna, and Johnny Joestar are only a part of the stories they originated in. Joseph Joestar is one of the only two exceptions, as he shows up in Parts 2, 3, and 4. The other exception is none other than Jotaro Kujo, as he shows up in Parts 3, 4, 5, and 6, making him the single most recurring JoJo protagonist ever.
Originally a protagonist, he re-appears in the Diamond is Unbreakable story arc as a main character and shows up in a cameo in the Vento Aureo (Golden Wind) arc. Then finally, he returns as a supporting character in the Stone Ocean storyline and the fate of his character is finally concluded there.
While we see Jotaro Kujo being a badass who pushes people away most of the time, he has a very active life full of hobbies and interests behind the camera. This includes the fact he enjoys movies and music among other things and his favorite movie is ‘Never Cry Wolf’. If you don’t remember that movie – it was released by Disney under the Walt Disney Pictures label and is considered to be a masterpiece by many. It has tons of pro-environment messages and themes which makes sense since Jotaro Kujo really loves the ocean.
His favorite musician on the other hand is Toshinobu Kubota, who has made songs of countless different genres and is most notably known for songs like ‘Love Rain’, ‘Dance If You Want It’, ‘La La La Love Song’, and so on. He’s one of the best-selling musicians of Japan and has sold over 16 million records all over the world as of 2020. With how unique Jotaro Kujo’s personality is outside of the tough-guy demeanor he puts on, it’s no surprise that his favorite artist is not generic.
While his difficulties as a student and tough-guy attitude make him look like someone who wouldn’t be academically intelligent – that assumption cannot be further from the truth. Jotaro Kujo’s personal life often suffers from his tragic family history and the harsh events he has to go through, and that combined with the pressure he gets from society to be perfect is one of the reasons his grades in school began to drop.
However, despite his bad-guy attitude towards people and a seemingly punkish lifestyle in his early days, he is actually an intelligent person who has non-violent interests in life – and as seen in an extra detail added in the anime where he is sometimes seen reading about marine life, Jotaro Kujo’s career of choice is basically anything that would get him closer to the ocean. This is further supported by the fact his favorite film is Never Cry Wolf, which is all about pro-environment themes.
Eventually, he becomes a Marine Biologist by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable and it can be seen in the white outfit that he wears too. This carries onto his cameo in Part 5: Golden Wind (Vento Aureo) as well as he is still wearing the iconic white outfit, confirming he’s still consistently working in the occupation. By the time we get to Part 6: Stone Ocean, he wears different colors again compared to the usual white – but this does not confirm he quit his job in any way and wouldn’t make sense anyway, a man’s gotta eat to afford those cool outfits with cut-off hats.
How Josuke Higashikata and Jotaro Kujo are related is often a topic of confusion, because generally we are used to seeing JoJo protagonists as descendants of the previous one and Josuke is younger than Jotaro anyway to further support that confusion. However, things are not as simple as they same and the relation they have will surprise you in case you did not know already.
Josuke Higashikata is the son of Joseph Joestar, who happens to be the grandfather of Jotaro Kujo. That makes Josuke an uncle of Jotaro and the step brother of his mother Holy Kujo. If someone told you this before the Diamond is Unbreakable story arc revealed that detail itself, you’d think they’re joking with you because with the mentor-like bond that Jotaro Kujo establishes with Josuke, you’d expect Jotaro to be the uncle instead.
Notably, this also makes Joseph Joestar the only known Joestar to impregnate two different women in one lifestyle as it has been stated as random trivia once that Joestars only love one woman in their life. Some fans theorize that this means that if a Joestar loves their daughter a lot it may be the only woman they love in their life – but that is most likely a misconception and it was probably meant in a romantic context.

Star Platinum is not too much of a unique stand by the start of the Stardust Crusaders story arc since its powers lie in brute strength rather than anything special or versatile like other stands. It is Jotaro’s strength and willpower that have always driven it to be one of the most powerful stands and can face off against almost any enemy that stands in his way. However, once Jotaro fights Dio Brando in his peak vampire form and nearly to the extreme levels of strength and time-stopping powers of The World – Jotaro manages to evolve his stand to gain powers of stopping time as well.
This version of Star Platinum is often referred to as ‘Star Platinum The World’ and is one of the most powerful stands in the JoJo universe, being able to casually stop time for 6 seconds in order to defeat Dio Brando. This changes though, because Jotaro does not use his time-stopping abilities for around 10 years between the time from Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable. This causes the ability to weaken down to 1-2 seconds at a time which only barely allows him to dodge some moves, which isn’t even that helpful when the opponent is not pulling the punches like Josuke Higashikata does against him.
Whether he does not like using the power or never had to until he ran into the evil stand users in the town of Morioh is unknown, but it is certainly confirmed that he did not use the power on purpose. Fans usually theorize that it may cause strain to his human body, compared to Dio who was a vampire and could regenerate any damage done to himself through the use of time-stopping. It’s strange though, as a part of why he is absent from the life of his family is because he tries to find potential stand using threats who could be following Dio.
For what it’s worth though, Jotaro does practice a bit and bring the time back to 4-5 seconds in the Stone Ocean arc as the threat they face can end the world itself, and the safety of his daughter is in the way too. His parental instincts have easily been the biggest push he’s ever experienced in his life so it’s only natural that he only fixed his time-stopping durability when her safety is at stake.

Jotaro Kujo was actually really normal as a child, as his mother Holy describes him as ‘such a good boy’ in the past. He used to attend school properly and participated in the usual activities you would expect from a child such as playing with balls and running on tracks. He used to be supervised by his mother most of the time since his father would often be on tour, and it never stopped him from being a pleasant child through most of his life.
Whether his change towards delinquency started partially because of his father never coming back from one of his tours (as these things can act as a realization at a later point in life even if the childhood goes normally) or not, the main factor to it is without a doubt the awakening of his stand Star Platinum. Not knowing how stands work, he originally assumes that he is possessed by a demonic spirit and one thing that has always been consistent about his character is the fact he starts pushing everyone close to him away whenever he starts to feel like his presence is a danger to them.
His rude demeanor does not manage to drive people away, whether it’s the girls in school or his mother – but this does not stop Jotaro from trying his best and he proceeds to jail himself because he believes the demonic spirit that is possessing him will proceed to hurt people. This causes him to be extremely rude to his mother because he believes she might stop trying to be close to him but it does not help and she finally calls her father Joseph Joestar because he had a stand as well.
It is even implied that he tried to kill or severely harm himself at one point because when he tries to convince his family that he is possessed, he confidently shows them that trying to shoot himself automatically gets stopped by his stand Star Platinum because at that point he is not consciously controlling it.
A good part of this personality of his comes from the geeky side of his interests as he likes watching movies, and he adopted lines and traits from the badass characters he liked from his favorite flicks. There’s no shortage of clear proof that Jotaro is actually a soft person who cares about those around him deep down, he just suffers from many issues that causes him to distance himself from everyone and a part of that is his rudeness through which he tries to push people away.
Another thing to notice further is that parts of this personality fade as we move onto different parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, with him expressing his emotions a bit better than his past in Stone Ocean, towards his daughter Jolyne Cujoh. Before that point, he just believed if he shows emotions it would become a weakness for him.
The worst thing Jotaro Kujo ever did in his life was abandoning his daughter Jolyne Cujoh (check our article dedicated to her) and divorcing his wife – and this caused him to be absent from Jolyne’s life altogether after a certain point and this caused them to fall out to the point Jolyne changed her last name’s spellings from ‘Kujo’ to ‘Cujoh’ in spite.
While not much is known about his ex-wife, we have been shown how she looks like and it is mentioned that she raised Jolyne all by herself since Jotaro disappeared. The reason behind Jotaro’s divorce and neglect as a parent is a tragic one, though. It is because Dio’s followers were spread out all over the world and would come to harm Jotaro and his family since they are from the Joestar family. This caused him a great deal of fear towards their safety and he decided to distance himself from them and hoped that no one ever harm them due to their relations to Jotaro Kujo.
Unfortunately, as we know by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean – this did not quite work and Enrico Pucci went for Jolyne Cujoh’s life anyway. Sure, we can argue that people may have tried to kill her even sooner had Jotaro lived close to her – but ultimately it just feels like he wasted all those years not being close to his daughter for nothing since danger came to them nonetheless.
Another thing that makes this even more tragic is that his father was absentee too and disappeared from his life after a point in Jotaro’s childhood. Jotaro must have grown up believing he will never be the same but unfortunately ended up doing the same thing to his daughter despite the fact he truly loved her.
Jotaro Kujo and his stand Star Platinum are so popular that he is pretty much the mascot of the franchise, as he is the one JoJo protagonist that even most people who aren’t even fans of the series recognize as long as they are into anime and manga. Whenever there is merchandise, he is usually the most sold figurine and he is often at the front of the box arts every time there’s a non-specific video game for the franchise.
Although Hirohiko Araki might want more attention towards his more recent work instead in comparison – it’s just something that cannot be avoided since it’s just the most profitable thing to do to have a mascot represent your work instead of trying to push fresher faces. One way or another, even with the new universe being in place – Jotaro is the face of the franchise and that might not change anytime soon.
Any good hero mascot needs a villain to fight though, which is why Dio Brando and his stand The World are the opposing mascots of the franchise as well.
While it’s not something explicitly stated within JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure canon – it is something that almost every fan agrees on and the author has not denied either. Jotaro Kujo has been through extremely painful and outright tragic events in his life as early as 17 years of age. He lost most of his friends that he made on the journey to Egypt, and the events made an already distant Jotaro Kujo even further reluctant to keep in touch with anyone that was close to him as he does not want to see or cause more death around him.
It’s a lot to take in for such a young guy, especially when he’s not even a cold person and only displays that persona on purpose. It’s no surprise that he barely has friends and even abandoned his wife and child because of the trauma he experienced in life, and only shows up to places as a last resort most of the times. Keep in mind he tried to harm himself as a teenager because he thought that Star Platinum is a demonic spirit possessing him.
Despite all the pain, though, he has been shown to truly treasure the memories he made with the Joestar group from Stardust Crusaders and he keeps a picture of them together in his room at all times.
Despite how ridiculously overpowered Enrico Pucci was by the end of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean – one thing that the characters have in common are the human capacities they share of having to control these powers and the mistakes they can make along the way. While Jotaro Kujo was very outmatched by Enrico, he still managed to nearly kill the antagonist and save the world from experiencing a reboot.
However, he lost only by a single second (or step as you prefer in the literal translation) from striking Enrico and it resulted in his tragic death. The reason for why he failed by one second is none other than love for his daughter Jolyne Cujoh and the parental instincts that came over him. If this was Jotaro Kujo in the past he would have stuck to the mission, but while he was about to attack Enrico Pucci and deliver a finishing blow – Enrico immediately threw knives towards Jolyne in the same fashion as Dio Brando used to in the past.
Rationally, Jotaro killing Enrico would have been more useful and saved everyone else even if Jolyne did not survive, but his paternal instincts get the better of him and he ends up trying to save Jolyne instead. This gives Enrico the advantage and he manages to brutally kill Jotaro Kujo
Not all of it was in vain, however, as ultimately the universe manages to reset itself to its previous state and reassigns the souls of Jotaro and Jolyne into less tragic rebooted versions of the Joestar family. Because everyone who was directly killed by Enrico is rebooted into new people while everyone else is the same as before and unaffected.
As mentioned above, those who were directly killed by Enrico Pucci before the universe rebooted for one last time were erased and reinstated with counterparts in the new universe – Jotaro Kujo is one of those people.
We never get to see this new version of him despite seeing the ‘Irene’ rebooted version of his daughter Jolyne Cujoh, but it is confirmed that he exists as she tells Emprio Alniño that she is going to see her father with her boyfriend to ask for approval to marry him. The boyfriend himself happens to be a rebooted version of Narciso Anasui simply called ‘Annakiss’, so it’s very clear that everyone killed by Enrico did get a new life. Whether it’s just a random replacement or their actual souls being reborn and subconsciously finding each other is unknown, but we all like to personally believe the latter.
While we will never get to see this version of Jotaro as Parts 7 and 8 are set in a new continuity – we may see a different version of Jotaro someday as Dio Brando and Josuke Higashikata have reappeared as different people in the current universe.
Two things should be kept in mind though:

Also, since Jotaro and Dio’s Stands are quite similar and familiar to fans or no-fans alike, the list will be targeting all the rest of the Stands.
User: Johnny Joestar
Part: 7, Steel Ball Run
Manifested by Johnny Joestar from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: JoJolion, Tusk undergoes tremendous growth similar to Koiichi’s Echoes. With four different ACTS depending on Johnny’s SPIN state, this stand harnesses power unforeseen before.
In ACT1, the stand appears to be a small creature of weird proportions. However, it enables Johhny to shoot his fingernails, all while reloading them at an unfathomable speed. Later on, Johnny learns to diverge the ability into a remote tracking shot, with great accuracy and speed.
In ACT2, Tusk adopts the look of a machine, with technological features to it. Additionally, Tusk becomes capable of shooting more adeptly, with impeccable accuracy, speed, and tracking. For ACT3, he begins to morph himself into a humanoid form. Tusk now allows Johnny to travel through dimensions by sucking him into his fingernails and shooting him. Although the generated wormhole makes interdimensional travel possible, it is quite intensive on Johnny’s body.
Alas, ACT4 is what truly sets Tusk apart from his competition. Achievable only with Golden Spin, Tusk now becomes a gigantic humanoid wall of clippings, held in place with stars and a vibrant hue. This final form is capable of creating limitless rotations through space and time. Tusk also defies the laws of physics by negating the effect of gravity, enforcing an infinite Groundhog Day effect. Tusk is undoubtedly the culmination of all the prior JoJo series’ stands. His powers are built up from the likes of Bites the Dust, Gold Experience Requiem, alongside other prevailing Stands.
User: Bruno Bucciarati
Part: 5, Golden Wind
Similar to numerous other Stands in JoJo, Sticky Fingers is another humanoid stand with a slim yet muscular build, just like Bucciarati. The impressive design of the stand has its face hidden above the mouth by an odd, yet cool, helmet with short spikes. Working in conjunction with its owner personality, Sticky Fingers is seen to yell “ARI ARI ARI” with each move, followed by an impressive finishing line “Arrivederci!”, that translates to goodbye in Italian.
Sticky Fingers has a simple yet cool design, but, with immense appeal. As Bruno Bucciarati is the user, it allows him to create zippers by punching or even touching an entity. The zippers act as a gateway to a pocket dimension created by the Stand, allowing Bruno to travel through the dimension. Even better, Bruno can utilize the power to hide from impending doom.
Bruno’s Stand, Sticky Fingers, makes a formidable adversary regardless of the threat the opponent imposes. Nevertheless, Bruno can hold his own against the strongest of opponents.
User: Josuke Higashikata
Part: 8, JoJolion
Although Soft and Wet’s full strength is yet to be seen, his design nothing less of a complexity. At first glance, going off his design, one may expect his skills to be rather complex. And though this holds some truth, his powers have yet not been fully revealed. Soft and Wet has several complementary abilities: bubble generation enables the creation of swiftly vibrating, spinning cords, that give the illusion of translucent spheres. These illusive spheres can lift objects and parry attacks.
However, the true potential of Soft and Wet lies in the conjunctive with its second power, Plunder. This second ability allows the bubbles to explode and steal property, such as eyesight from an eye, light from a bulb, and music from an instrument. The level of versatility is directly comparable with what Golden Experience offers.
User: Diavolo
Part: 5, Golden Wind
With a menacing and fearsome appearance, combined with formidable power, King Crimson is a force to be reckoned with. Manifested by the antagonist of JJBA: Golden Wind, Diavolo, King Crimson is undeniably one of the strongest Stands the show has to offer.
King Crimson packs abilities that put even the likes of Dio’s The World to shame. The first ability allows him to see into the future, while the other ability enables him to erase time for up to 10-seconds. Thus, granting Diavolo the power to foresee incidents and prevent them from happening. Combining and adequate use of these abilities could make Diavolo invincible— if it wasn’t for Giorno’s Golden Experience.
User: Rohan Kishibe
Part: 4, Diamond is Unbreakable
Amongst the fan-favorite characters of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, Rohan and his Stand form a devastating duo. The appearance of Heaven’s Door resembles that of a small humanoid creature, similar to the main character of a manga written by Rohan himself. While Rohan did get countered by Killer Queen, Heaven’s Door had possibly the most potential in the entire series.
Heaven’s Door can turn a person into a comic book, allowing Rohan to invasively study everything about a person’s life and character. Even better, Rohan can also alter personalities for better or worse. An example of this is evident when Rohan granted Koiichi the ability to speak Italian, without any prior knowledge. Nevertheless, Rohan is unquestionably the portrayal of Hirohiko Araki as a writer and mangaka.
User: Funny Valentine
Part: 7, Steel Ball Run
You may confuse this stand for a bunny, but rest assured, D4C is a terrifying Stand wielded by the most powerful person in the world. You guessed it right, the 23rd President of the United States. When JoJo couldn’t get any more bizarre, Araki sets Funny Valentine as the mastermind of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run. Statistically speaking, D4C seems quite underwhelming. However, his abilities truly live up to the standards set by Johnny Joestar’s Stand — Tusk.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is capable of traveling between parallel dimensions. Funny Valentine accomplishes this by enclosing himself between two entities, making it possible for him to reappear anywhere he desires. Interestingly, Funny Valentine can also switch bodies with himself from another universe, while keeping the memories the original Valentine left. The continuous switching enables him to negate any wounds inflicted on him, making him unconquerable. If this isn’t enough to make him invincible, then let’s look into the second ability.
Possessing Saint’s Corpse allows D4C to evolve into an even stronger Stand, D4C Love Train. This Stand defines the meaning of overpowered. It can hide Valentine in an alternate universe, directing all damage and misfortune towards someone else. In layman terms, instead of hitting Funny Valentine, you will inevitably end up killing a random person.
User: Joshu Higashikata
Part: 8, JoJolion
The Stand possessed by Joshu Higashikata from JoJoLion, Nut King Call is truly an oddball. While Joshu is a side character, it would do you well not to underestimate his potential. Nut King Call’s appears to be covered in screws and slates parting away, thus, making it seem as though it may fall apart eventually. However, this simply reflects the power it garners.
Nut King Call can create nuts and bolts on anything or anyone. On removal of a nut, the assembly comes apart, taking apart everything with ease. Joshu can also use the ability to combine things as well, similar to how Crazy Diamond acts, just a tad bit cooler.
User: Kira Yoshikage
Part: 4, Diamond is Unbreakable
This list would be incomplete without the addition of Kira Yoshikage and his Stand, Killer Queen. While you may have grown tired of hearing Dio’s iconic ‘Useless!’ chants, it is impossible to feel the same way for Kira and his ‘Bites the dust’ ability. Moving on, the appearance of Killer Queen may seem cute to most, but the threat it imposes is indescribable.
Primarily, Killer Queen can create bombs from whatever it touches, decimating foes from places unbeknownst. Secondly, Killer Queen is seen to equip Stray Cat in its belly, making it possible to fire invisible air bombs. Moving on, the third ability allows Killer Queen to summon a small vehicular object that targets enemies based on their temperature, detonating on contact. Last but not least, his ultimate ability, Bites the Dust is an outrageous ability that creates a time-loop, preventing anyone from finding out Kira’s identity. Having seen these abilities, the name Killer Queen is unquestionably befitting Kira’s Stand.
User: Tamaki Damo
Part: 8, JoJolion
Yes, Araki named a Stand after a vitamin. And though vitamins are a necessity for us humans, this Vitamin C is not. Wielded by Tamaki Damo from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s Part 8 — JoJolion, Vitamin C is a horrific Stand. With an appearance reminiscent of King Nothing, Vitamin C has several tentacles popping out of his fingertips.
When coming in contact with one of the spectral tentacles, it liquifies the object or person into a puddle. Furthermore, when softened, the foe is rendered useless, incapable of moving or resisting anything thrown at them.
User: Okuyasu Nijimura
Part: 4, Diamond is Unbreakable
Possessed by Okuyasu, an iconic character of JoJo’s Diamond is Unbreakable arc, The Hand is easily one of the most powerful Stands on this list. However, even an unstoppable Stand is deemed useless if the user is a complete idiot.
With a single swipe of his right hand, this stand erases whatever comes in way of its trajectory. Furthermore, it fuses both of the remaining ends, making it seem as though the erased space never existed. Okuyasu can wipe out anything or person, but due to his lack of intellect, he solely relies on a rather simple and rudimentary combat style. Undoubtedly, it would have been a treat to view this Stand in its true power and essence. Truly, a loss.
User: Giorno Giovanna
Part: 5, Golden Wind
After the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Giorno has become the new fan-favorite JoJo, or should I say GioGio. His Stand, Gold Experience and Gold Experience Requiem, is indisputably the most powerful Stand in all of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures. Before delving into its design and key abilities, let’s list the abilities it possesses.
It can create, regenerate, has the theme of peace and warfare. Just the themes themselves are self-explanatory, proving the immense strength and versatility of this Stand. Onto the actual abilities, Golden Experience can transform inanimate objects and entities into living and breathing creatures. However, when touching living beings, it over-rejuvenates them, accelerating the foe’s acuity. Golden Experience can also accelerate growth rates, enabling it to heal living beings as well.
However, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Once struck by the Stand Arrow, Gold Experience develops into Gold Experience Requiem. If the above-mentioned abilities did not impress you, then hear this. GER is capable of nullifying and reverting things. The power GER possesses surpasses the intellect of Giorno.
Although we may disagree with the rankings of these Stands, we can all agree upon one thing: the Stand designs are absolutely amazing! Therefore, why not go ahead and buy yourself, a JoJo T-Shirt, to flamboyantly show off your love for the series.
]]>Giorno Giovanna is one of the most beloved characters from JoJo Part 5 Vento Aureo. He is a Gangstar, the 5th JoJo in the JoJo Bizarre Adventure series, your local next-door Mafioso, and the son of the famous Dio Brando.
So, let's take a look at some 10 interesting facts about our favorite Gangstar and see what he has in store for us. And if you want to have a look at Giorno Giovanna anime merchandise, check our Giorno Giovanna catalog.
Yes, you read that right, Giorno Giovanna's hairstyle is actually related to a famous Japanese dessert, the Chocolate Cornets. While that might be a flavorsome resemblance to have, Giorno Giovanna's hair was not always Yellow and swiftly turned golden when his stand awakened. This change also led him to adopt this flashy hairstyle that is now often used to refer to his character.
And especially in the Japanese audience, "@@@" is also used to refer to the handsome Gangstar, and it has essentially become the identity of Giorno Giovanna in Japan.
Giorno Giovanna's defining trait, his resolve, is unmatched in the series; but what makes Giorno by far the strongest character in all of anime is the Life-Giving Stand, The Golden Experience. This stand is able to give Life endlessly to any inanimate object, transform them into a living creature of Giorno's choosing, then Giorno can essentially create organs, manipulate Life in living creatures, heal endlessly, and even sense Life.
Then, on top of that, when Giorno's stand achieved Requiem and transformed into Golden Experienced Requiem; All the base abilities were greatly enhanced. Giorno gained the power to turn everything, every single action back to zero, and just sentencing his enemies into an endless loop of death transcending time, space, and any other such ability. This makes Giorno into an untouchable Behemoth of a character, to say the least.
In the early 2000s, Hirohiko Araki ranked his top 10 favorite characters, and there he gave Giorno Giovanna the 5th spot. This may even be a ploy by the Author since Giorno is the main focus of JoJo Part 5 Vento Aureo. Symbolizing that nobody could have been a better choice for JoJo part 5 after the JoJo Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable, where Araki's most favorite character Josuke Higashikata took the spotlight.
The Author loves to play such tricks and follow bizarre logic patterns, just like his long-running JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series.
Despite being an actual Gangstar, a Mafioso, and the only actual Joestar actively breaking the Law, Giorno never truly got in trouble with the Cops. Besides him, every other Joestar, from Jonathan to Joseph, Jotaro to Josuke, every Joestar, in some way or form was arrested or got in some kind of trouble with the law in one way or form.
But Giorno always got away with bribing them and never got himself arrested. Which is quite the hilarious take on the character. Even though there were many moments when Giorno could get arrested, but those only lead to a questionable moment, and he just never got in sort of legal trouble.
If anyone had any shred of a doubt after Giorno references that he wants to be a Gangstar and his clothes are just as Metal as one can get; Yes, Giorno Giovanna loves Rock’n’roll. His favorite musician is actually the legendary guitarist, Jeff Beck who played with Yardbirds and is active to this day.
Besides Rock, Giorno is, of course, a fashionista like other JoJo characters. And is quite fond of chocolate pudding and Octopus Salad. Which is quite a weird combination to go with.
As many JoJo Fans would have missed at the start of Vento Aureo, Giorno Giovanna's actual name is "Haruno Shiobana." He is a Japanese Italian, where his mother is Japanese. She married an Italian man when Giorno was 4 years old and then moved over to Italy.
This was the time when the little Haruno changed his name to Giorno and essentially changed his whole identity to that of an Italian.
But this is not the only name change that Giorno went through; in Fugo's novel, the young gangster went on with an alias, GioGio.
While the origin of many anime characters is shrouded in mystery and confusion, none even come close to that of Giorno Giovanna. While we know for a fact that his actual father is Dio, but Dio conceived Giorno in a one-night stand with Jonathan's body.
Because of that, Giorno is actually a Joestar and genetically Jonathan's son, but on a spiritual plane, his powers and personality have a lot of hints of Dio Brando hidden away that we will get into in our next point.
Despite never having met his father, Giorno Giovanna has a lot of traits and even charisma that we have previously observed in Dio.
Especially when our Gangstar starts a fight, his Stand Cry is in line with his father's, "Muda Muda Muda," and he even used "Wryyy" in his finisher move against Cioccolata.
And the resemblance does not stop here; Giorno's facial features and even expressions match to that of Dio's, where he appears calm, kind, and extremely friendly, but behind that facade, a lot is happening where the character is far from being calm, to say the least.
Having never met his father, as previously mentioned, Giorno does not know that much about Dio. Still, because of the innate kindness of the Joestar family, Giorno is curious about him and respects his father. He knows that he is the son of Dio Brando and even carries a picture of him in his purse everywhere he goes.
Giorno treasures the picture, and although it is not that well explained in the manga or in the anime, how much he actually knows about Dio. But from his actions and the way he carries his picture in his purse, it is clear that he does not know a lot about the dead vampire. And that leads us to our next point.
Giorno Giovanna is a Gangstar, and he may even try to scam you or steal your wallet, but he is far from being evil. While his father is technically Dio, as previously explained, he is genetically the son of Jonathan and has the Joestar blood running through his veins.
This, combined with his early childhood experience where he saved a local mafioso, which made Giorno innately righteous. And he is far from being malevolent.
Still, some of his punishments against his enemies, even tho deserved, go above and beyond anything they ever did. Especially the death of Diavolo, where he gets stuck in an endless loop of deaths for eternity, is extremely cruel for anyone to go through. So, Giorno is not entirely evil; he just acts when he has to and goes a bit beyond to punish his foes.
We have seen this with Giorno Giovanna above in the main list where his because hair, the Japanese fans relate him to Chocolate Cornets and even refer to him with "@@@." Which is kind of understandable, but with Josuke here, things get even more Bizarre. Because of his unique, delinquent hairstyle, Josuke is often called "Hamburger Patty" by the Japanese audience.
No, Jotaro's hat is not actually his hair. And no, anime is not being weird again. Contrary to popular opinion, his hat just has a damaged brim, which makes his hair stand out weirdly from the back. And since the color of the hat is the same as his hair color, it gives off the impression that Jotaro Kujo's hair is actually attached to his hat, which is not the case at all.
Look at our amazing article of Jotaro Kujo!
]]>JoJo is the nickname given to each protagonist of the respective story arc. The origin of the name itself comes from the initials of their allotted names. A good example is Joseph Joestar. While it may seem the writer tends to deviate from the name trend, he still makes it possible to canonically authenticate the story. Moreover, all characters in the series have their unique powers and skills. The diversity JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure offers is impressive, but this is often mistaken as bad-writing as well. Therefore, today we will help you get accustomed to the JoJos and their lineage.
Yes, we know. George was never a JoJo, nor did he have any Bizarre Adventures. Despite that, George is the person who sets the cogs in motion for the series. In the late 1800s, George and his family are en route to a specific destination. However, a carriage accident cuts their trip short, with George losing his beloved wife to the unforeseeable incident. Consequently, Dario Brando — a local bandit, attempts to loot the disaster-ridden family. Though due to the misconception of the events, George comes to believe that Dario is, in fact, their savior.
George assures Dario that night that he owes him an immense debt. Little did George know the consequences that were to follow after that night. Several years later, a dying Dario demands George to pay the debt by taking in his son, Dio Brando. Like father like son, Dio enters the household with malicious intent, the sole desire to take over the entire Joestar Estate. Treating Jonathan, the son of George, extremely pugnaciously, Dio sets his plan in motion.
As time flies by, the young kids grow into adults. It is now when Dio approaches the final steps for his scheme. He plans several attempts at murdering his adoptive father, only to fail in the end. With his failures piling up, Dio resorts to supernatural means of gaining the power he desires. He comes across an ancient mask that grants vampiric powers to the wearer. Having become a living, breathing, a freak of nature — a vampire, the bizarre adventures begin to unfold. George’s death calls upon him when he tries to save his son, Jonathan, ultimately getting killed in the outcome.
Jonathan is the first JoJo of the series. Starring in Phantom Blood, Jonathon is an upright gentleman till the day his father passes away and his adopted brother becomes a vampire. These events ultimately change his life, leading him into a set of Bizarre Adventures to put a stop to Dio’s evil. While the only support Jonathan has initially is that of Robert Speedwagon, a random thug, and his sidekick. However, they come across an individual called Will Zeppeli, who possesses the mastery of the ancient art of combat known as Hamon. The power refers to a technique that enables the user to perform numerous feats by regulating their breathing.
Having mastered the new technique, Jonathan treads forward to finding and defeating Dio. His bizarre adventure concludes with a fight to the death against Dio, where Jonathan triumphs. Although JoJo seemingly killed him, Dio somehow survives because of his immortality. In the belief of everything being normal now, JoJo marries the love of his life, Erina, leaving on their honeymoon. However, the joyous cruise turns into a bloodbath as Dio emerges again from nowhere and kills Jonathan, stealing his body and making it his own. Jonathan’s sacrificial act allows the pregnant Erina to escape with the child in her womb.
The child of Jonathan and Erina, George is a reputable pilot in the British Air force. Similar to being named after his grandfather, he is not a JoJo. George eventually grew up to marry Elizabeth, later to be referred to as Lisa Lisa. Elizabeth was among the few people saved by Erina from the incident that transpired on the ship. Later, the married couple gives birth to a child, who goes to become the next JoJo.
Moreover, George ends up living a rather short life. During one of his confrontations with his superior officer, an agent of Dio in disguise, he dies helplessly. Elizabeth ends up avenging her late husband by killing the vampiric zombie with her Hamon proficiency.
Among the more iconic JoJos of the series, Joseph makes his debut in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, the second entry to the series. He also serves as a mentor and supporting character for the JoJo of Stardust Crusaders, with a cameo in Diamond is Unbreakable. With neither his parents by his side, Joseph’s grandmother, Erina, decides to raise him as well. Robert Speedwagon becomes a wealthy individual by then, having made a fortune from selling oil. Joseph is a fresh change from the mainstream and upright protagonist stereotype.
Similar to his forefather, Joseph is exceptionally skilled with Hamon. However, what truly sets him apart from other JoJos, is his comedic personality and witty fighting style. While Joseph does not go straight up against Dio, he faces a more formidable foe — the Pillar Men. The Pillar Men are ancient humanoid creatures who were the creators of the vampiric mask that gave Dio his powers. Joseph’s Bizarre Adventure commences with his friend Smokey, and his rival Caesar Zeppeli — grandson of the world-renown Will Zeppeli. Although Pillar Men are the enemy he faces, a dramatic turn leads Joseph into being tutored by Lisa Lisa, the mother of Joseph.
The poster character of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures, Jotaro Kujo is the acting protagonist of JoJo’s Stardust Crusaders story arc. His storyline begins with him being held in prison on his own accord. Unwilling to leave his cell, his mother Holy requests her father Joseph Joestar, to help her son out of jail. Jotaro claims to be possessed by a supernatural power, causing harm to innocent people. It is then that Joseph explains to Jotaro that this evil spirit is a power inherited due to his Joestar blood. Furthermore, this newly introduced power goes on to be known as Stands.
People across the globe attained the ability to manifest stands. These manifestations of limitless power are unique to each character’s personality. Jotaro’s Stand, Star Platinum, is the culmination of unparalleled speed, strength, and immaculate accuracy. Dio’s Stand, The World, is similar to Jotaro’s except for one trait: The World can stop time. However, with time and practice, Star Platinum also becomes capable of stopping manipulating the flow of time. Nevertheless, with Holy in her deathbed, Jotaro, and his grandfather, Joseph, embark on the quest to find Dio and end his tyranny once and for all. Thus, begin the bizarre adventures of JoJo, traveling from Japan to Egypt, forming and losing friends along the way. Moreover, the rivalry between Jotaro and Dio garnered the attention of the series. Franchises all around the world offer merchandise from JoJo phone cases to JoJo printed clothing. Hence, giving shape to what the JoJo series represents today.
Following the demise of Dio, JoJo unfolds a new chapter into its series, known as Diamond is Unbreakable. Starring Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar.Taking place in 1999, Jotaro Kujo travels to the town of Morioh, in the hopes of meeting Josuke. Due to his ties with the Joestar bloodline, Josuke can manifest his Stand as well. His Stand — Crazy Diamond, has the ability to restore objects and living beings to their former state.
With certain reports of paranormal activities, Josuke and his friends conduct their bizarre adventures in the town of Morioh. The adventures may seem small on a scale but rest assured, they do not lack the thrill JoJo offers. Moreover, dealing with the upsurge of Stand-users, the villain of the arc makes his appearance. Yoshikage Kira is an extremely treacherous serial killer, with a Stand that puts even the likes of Star Platinum to shame. Thus, partnering up with Jotaro and others, Josuke proceeds to stop criminal masterminds, especially Yoshikage Kira.
The recently animated and completed JoJo adaptation, Vento Aureo, has the son of Dio Brando play as the main character. While his name may seem more of GioGio rather than JoJo, he is, in fact, a JoJo sharing the same Joestar family. The proof provided by the series is that Giorno was conceived with Jonathan’s body, making him part of the Joestars. Giorno’s Stand is Golden Experience, which later evolves into Golden Experience Requiem. Nevertheless, his Stand is capable of manipulating life itself.
Unlike the former JoJos, Giorno bolsters a muscular, yet slender build. Despite the lack of huge muscles, Giorno resembles the Joestars and his late father, Dio. Vento Aureo is a mix of all the great things Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable offer. The story begins in Italy, where Giorno gets into a gang named Passione. The goal of Giorno is simple; become a reputable gang leader, to improve the life of people in Naples, Italy. Therefore, Giorno begins his quest and attempts to climb up the ladder of Passione gradually. Fending off against powerful Stand-using foes, Giorno indeed gains the title of Mob Boss by the end of the arc.

The daughter of the famed Jotaro Kujo, Jolyne is the protagonist for the 6th JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure story arc — Stone Ocean. The only female JoJo in the franchise, Jolyne’s Stand is Stone Free. It grants the ability to loosen herself into a string. The story of Jolyne begins with her waking up in a prison cell. Oddly enough, Jolyne is falsely-accused of murdering someone. However, having discovered the true culprit, Jotaro meets Jolyne and tells her about the actual murderer. The crime was committed by none other than the subordinate of Dio, Enrico Pucci, who is also the acting Prison Chaplain. What is the reason for framing her? Simple. To end her life and strip Jotaro of his powers and memories.
Therefore, with the task of protecting her father and her friend Emporio, Jolyne is required to sacrifice herself. As expected of JoJo, the adventures will always remain bizarre as the clash between Emporio and Pucci results in the change of the universe’s timeline. It results in a new strand of time, where Emporio finds the Jolyne of that multiverse, continuing his life henceforth.
Following the reboot of the entire universe, the Bizarre Adventures of JoJo come to an end. Or, do they? After the end of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, Araki proceeds to take JoJo to its 7th and 8th story arcs. These arcs serve as a reboot of the entire series, with the same characters yet different personalities and stories. Steel Ball Run is the first arc with the new timeline. It revolves around the character based on Jonathan, namely Johnny Joestar. Similar to Phantom Blood, Johnny comes across a peculiar mentor who tutors him on supernatural powers called the Spin. The context is just like Hamon except the technique is entirely different.
Furthermore, the eighth installation to the series of JoJo is JoJolion. It continues after the events of Johnny Joestar and is based on the adventures of the doppelganger of Josuke. While the story arc continues to air, it still provides the same degree of exhilarating drama and action JoJo is known for.
Undoubtedly, no one can figure out what Araki has in store for us next. However, given the success of the series, as well as the dramatic and thrilling narrative, the fans of JoJo are always at the edge of their seats. Hirohiko Araki’s unique approach for his story-telling, action, and fashion sense, has diversified the anime fans all across the globe. With more storylines and anime adaptations to come, the future seems quite bright for all JoJo and anime/manga fans alike.
]]>But this change perplexed a lot of fans who were following the series from the start or had started their JoJo journey from the 2012 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. The first 2 parts of the series focused heavily on Hamon, and it was the central, go-to power system initially that was integral to the plot before the introduction of Stands.
So, let's take a look at Hamon, find out why Hirohiko changed Hamon, and how this change affected the series going forward. And with that out of the way, let's just get into it.
Hamon or Ripples in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series is introduced as a technique where the user, through controlled breathing, could create ripples in the form a power in their bodies that is very similar to the sun's energy. It is also referred to as Sendo (The way of the Hermit or the way of the Wizard) in the series, is an ancient form for Martial Arts that allows its users to do extraordinary things, bring out their innate potential. The technique has been passed down from generations as the most effective technique against vampires, zombies, and the infamous Pillar Men.
The technique allows users to essentially replicate the sun's energy in their bodies and have it flow in ripples through their bloodstream. The users could then use this energy to enhance their physical abilities, or just manifest this energy in inanimate objects, making them more effective as a tool or just a better weapon overall. Although not as effective on metals, Ripple energy can essentially make a giant leaf into a sturdy shield or strengthen the body to take on immortal properties like not aging over its continued use.
Hamon was abandoned due to multiple reasons, but according to Araki, the biggest reason he let go of Hamon was because his editor at the time advised him so. During his interview published in JoJomenon, Araki emphasized that when his editor told him that his "Hamon is old hat," he started working on a new power system, and then after much thinking after JoJo Part 2, he came up with Stands.
Araki inspired stands from the guardian spirit concept that was prominent in Tsunoda Jiro's Ushiro no Hyakutaro. And since it actually made sense to Araki that going with such a system forward would allow him to actually explore his initial aspiration to give supernatural occurrences some kind of visible form. And since many fans even complained to him that they had trouble understanding what was going on because of Hamon, Araki just decided to go forward with Stands, and that was one of the best decisions Araki ever made for the series.
As mentioned before, Hamon was an integral part of JoJo's plot in JoJo part and JoJo part 2, but in JoJo part three, there was an abrupt change to the show. Above all, the notorious Hamon lost its relevancy because it was most effective against the main villains' the vampires and the Pillar men in part 1 and part 2, respectively. But going in part 3, with the introduction of the Stands, Hamon lost its effectiveness as the main fighting style against the Stand users. While it did have its relevancy to prolong a person's life or make them look youthful forever with its continued and enhanced healing abilities. But with Stands standing as the main enemy in Part 3, Hamon had virtually no use left with the plot setting of Stardust Crusaders.
But it was not like Hamon just disappeared, it was there and even used by some characters in Stardust Crusaders, and Araki again describes this in one of his other interviews;
"Hamon is life energy that travels through the entire body, through a special breathing method. Therefore, a concrete visualization of it would be some sort of wire wrapped around the entire body, like a vine. If Jotaro's group traveled to the world of Part 2, they would probably be able to see 'Hermit Purple' wrapped around Joseph's body like they see in Part 3."
So even though Hamon is present in JoJo part 3 and Jonathan, along with some other characters, are shown using it, it has lost its effectiveness as a viable strategy against the more powerful Stand users. So, the transition did shape the story a lot in terms of what the characters could do and take advantage of in their struggle against DIO, but overall, the plot remained pretty much the same, though with some expected significant changes.
And not to mention the notoriety that the franchise gained after the transition, making JoJo one of the most popular and unique manga's in the 90s, and essentially has made a JoJo a classic, unlike any other manga to have ever come out to this day.
The Transition from Hamon to the Stand based system was one of the most important and crucial turning points in the series and has essentially added more uniqueness and character to the JoJo franchise.
And Araki, as the Author of JoJo, fully took advantage of this transition, and while he balanced out the series with this new power system and be more creative with his characters, Araki used this chance to essentially make use of this new quality. And using his unique art style, he took his manga to practically new heights and just a whole lot more enjoyable.
Now Stands have become an icon in the Japanese anime industry with a plethora of mangakas paying homage to the symbol of creativity Hirohiko Araki, by referencing them in their own works and this shows how more popular JoJo has become after this significant change.
]]>But it was not always like that.
JoJo did not start out as the incredibly popular show it is right now; the beginning was much humble and full of failures.
For more on this, head over to our Article on the Life of Hirohiko Araki
And even then, the series did not reach the notoriety that it has today, until just recently when David Productions decided to make an anime adaptation of the long-forgotten anime franchise.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's manga was a phenomenon in Japan in the early 1990s. The most popular part, JoJo Part 3, had just finished serialization in the Weekly Jump Magazine, and the manga was confirmed for an anime adaptation by one of the best studios at the time, Studio APPP. JoJo's first anime came out in November of 1993, and over the course of 1 year-long production cycle, the anime was just six episodes long.
Studio APPP had attempted to adapt the staggering 152 chapters of JoJo part 3 in just six episodes, which resulted in the 1993 anime just being the summary of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga, covering just the important bits and just scrapping a whole lot of content in order to condense the story in a six-episode long montage. And the anime also had many controversies and had to change a whole lot of content for the western audiences.
This resulted in the original JoJo being quite fast-paced, nonsensical at the same time, and just a mediocre adaptation that took away from the manga's charm, and rather than adding more value to the JoJo's franchise, it actually took away from the manga's success and made the series unappealing to the anime fans in general.
Fast forward in the early 2000s, JoJo had become a cult classic that was deemed unadaptable due to its unique and just out of the ordinary art style, and APPP's attempt at adapting the anime again was met with disappointment for the same reasons. But the anime did its purpose and bolstered the manga/merch sales in Japan. And that was where the manga giants and the whole anime industry was focused on at the time.
Anime was just used to bolster manga, light novel, and anime merchandise sales And for the Japanese companies, anime was more of a publicity investment that they used to popularize the franchise and just make it accessible to the general anime audience so that they would then buy the manga, or the light novel, whatever source the anime was based on.
So, JoJo, had multiple anime attempts that were dampened by the industry's dilemma, and JoJo, since it was selling exceptionally well in Japan and had become a somewhat well-known underground classic with a dedicated fan base. The Shueisha did not pay much heed to the anime and just focused on the manga and merchandise side of the aisle.
JoJo was still not well known at that point. It was a household name in Japan, but in the western anime community, not many fans knew about JoJo.
But that all changed on the 25th anniversary of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series when David Production took the helm and decided to animate the whole series from the first chapter.
After David Productions' announcement, the anime did not become an immediate success, and although the sales of the adaptation were off the charts, the anime was still not that popular in the west yet.
But JoJo had started to get recognized as a good anime in the western fandom, and it was not until JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3 came out that JoJo blew up worldwide.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a western-inspired anime. Despite its Japanese origin, JoJo is an amalgam of western pop culture where Araki, the creator himself, was inspired by the European culture and foreign literature that led him to devise the famous manga series.
In that inspiration, JoJo is filled with western tropes, references to old, European, American bands, music legends, and much more.
And that resonates with the western fans more than anything.
JoJo might be a Japanese anime, but its storyline, the way the characters interact is more so in line with the western culture rather than the Japanese way of life.
This makes JoJo, one of the only Japanese anime to have the western literary soo deeply tied to the plot that the anime feels more like a modern American Animation draped in Japanese Style and essence that the west now knows it for.
This makes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure one of the only anime that the average western and global audiences can enjoy and have a fun time watching because it is just soo familiar.
And even in that, JoJo takes a lot of elements from classic western literature like Les Misérables by Victor Hugo or, more popularly, the classic Dracula by Bram Stoker, etc. Moreover, even the character designs take inspiration from the legendary American classics by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Along with the famous JoJo poses coming right off from, some of the best Album arts from the famous bands in the 90s.
All these features, combined with Hirohiko Araki's own infatuation with classical European art and quirky outlook on life, makes JoJo an anime that anyone can get into and have a pretty good time laughing at the gags, getting referenced in a unique way, and, just have a fun time enjoying over the top characters, with over the top more so, eccentric personalities in the best way possible.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series had a weak start, but over the years, the series has made itself known in the Japanese fandom and now has literally blown up in the global anime community as one of the best anime series ever. The infatuation of the anime lies in the fact that it is just so over the top and relatable that the fans can't help but laugh and cry simultaneously. And just get stoked whenever Hirohiko Araki makes a popular pop culture reference or breaks the fourth wall while giving new and old fans something new to like about the timeless series in every new part that has kept the series fresh and just a joy to go through 33 years later for its serialization.
]]>But even though the Manga and especially the Anime of JoJo are soo well known, most new JoJo fans and even a plethora of seasoned enthusiasts do not know much about Hirohiko, and some even have a lot of misconceptions about JoJo's author.
Therefore, in this article, we will cover everything, Hirohiko Araki related, going over his life before he became a mangaka; How his professional mangaka journey has evolved him over the years? And most of all; What makes Hirohiko Araki and JoJo soo special?
So, with that out of the way, let's just get into it.
For those who do not know, Hirohiko Araki was born on June 7, 1960, in Sendai, Japan, which is the capital of the Miyagi
Prefecture, located further up north of Tokyo. Although there is not much known about his family, but what we do know is that Araki's father was a Japanese Salaryman who used to collect art books as his main hobby. His mother was a stay at home mom, and he also had two identical twin younger sisters.
Now, Araki's sisters here are the main reason which got him interested in manga in the first place. He describes them as annoyances where they would take his things, eat his food and, just annoy him in other ways. Araki Describes the emotions he felt of his sisters when growing up as feeling a sense of exclusion and ill-will towards his sisters, and because of that, he did not like going back home after school and would often spend most of his time in his room reading manga from the 70s and going through his father's Artbook collection.
Heck, he even went as far as to say," Things might have gotten out of hand, and I might have killed my sisters." If he had not started spending more time in his newfound interest.
Hirohiko Araki described his early life during his lecture at Tokai Junior & Highschool and in that, he also emphasized that the manga that influenced him the most was Ai to Makoto and was particularly inspired by the works of the famous French artist Paul Gauguin to actually to start drawing and making his own manga.
He began his journey as a manga artist quite early on in middle school when he was in 4th grade, and when a friend actually complimented his manga, he thought he could also become a successful manga artist.
Araki fast forward, now finally a high schooler, started submitting his manga at a variety of different magazines, but all of those submissions were rejected. Araki, perplexed by this new development, started to improve his art and, after completing his Highschool, began majoring in Designer Fashion at the Miyagi University of Education to further solidify his foundations as a manga artist. But, during this time, a mangaka duo Yudetamago, featuring Takashi Shimada and Yoshinori Nakai, who were roughly the same age as Araki, made a huge debut in the manga industry, and another much younger mangaka Masakazu Katsura also started making big splashes.
Araki now could not hold himself back anymore and decided to take a four-hour trip to Tokyo to find why his works were getting rejected. He went there with a 100-page draft of a one-shot manga called Poker Under Arms and, at first, he was going to visit Shogakukan but then got scared off by the size of the building. He then decided to just go to Shueisha next door, which had a much smaller building at the time. There, he met a rookie editor, who, after looking at his draft, criticized each and every panel extensively and pointed out a lot of Araki's big mistakes. But then at the end, he encouraged Araki that his draft had potential, and he should clean it up and submit it to Tezuka Awards, which was going to be held in 5 days.
His one-shot, Poker Under Arms, then won the best runner up award at Tezuka Awards 1980, and Araki, following his first debut, quit his Designer Fashion Degree before graduating and started working as a full-time Mangaka at Shueisha.
Hirohiko's first one-shot, Poker Under Arms, had a wild west theme, which was quite popular at the time, and continuing on this trend, he made another one-shot man, Outlaw Man, in 1981. And then again in 1982, he made a Sci-Fi based one-shot manga Say Hi to Virginia. Till now, it was well known that the western themes enamored Araki, but his one-shots were not successful. Araki then again in 1982, made his second debut with a short series called Cool Shock B.T.
But the detective theme of the series did not go well with the Shonen Jump at the time, and Cool Shock B.T. was cut off after just six chapters serialized at the time.
But, in 1984, since Sci-Fi was gaining more popularity with works like Dragon Ball, Hayao Miyazaki's Daydream Data Notes, Cypher, etc. shaping the manga industry with a new genre. Araki also took part in the Sci-Fi evolution in Japan with his Manga series, Boah, which featured a story about a boy who gets kidnapped by an evil organization and gets transformed into a Bioweapon. He then, with a 9-year-old psychic girl, Sumire, fights off the evil organization. Although the manga was somewhat popular at the time, financially, Boah suffered and was cut short to only nine chapters.
Now, Boah was the most successful endeavor By Araki in his four years working as a professional Mangaka at Shueisha. It featured his iconic Gore style and had a lot of the elements that we see in JoJo today.
After his first successful run, which was quite popular among the teenagers at the time, Araki took a Trip to Italy with Shueisha for more inspiration.
Araki, now being a semi-successful mangaka with a very small niche following, was slowly gaining traction, but it was after his trip to Italy that his art truly started to bloom.
Araki was getting more creative with his work, and influenced by his trip to Italy; he decides to create another one-shot manga series, Gorgeous Irene, where Araki's inspiration for his current art style can be observed. But Golden Irene was not at all popular among the Shonen Jump readers at the time. But Araki wanted to create a manga that utilized his newfound inspiration to draw flamboyantly in 1985, and Gorgeous Irene was just that.
The style that was foreshadowed in Boah was in full bloom in Gorgeous Irene, and had hints of his wacky over the top artwork that is now synonymous with JoJo.
But Gorgeous Irene had a female protagonist, and the art was exceptionally dazzling, to say the least. But Gorgeous Irene had an especially severe Flaw. Araki liked to draw more, rather than adjusting the story itself and Gorgeous Irene was extremely similar to another mangaka, Higashi Eguchi's work at that time. Araki got blasted off by his editor, Ryōsuke Kabashima to never make anything soo derivative ever again.
So, Araki, desperate at this point with Gorgeous Irene getting cut off from Shonen Jump after just two chapters, which were serialized in Shonen Jump and the 1st issue of Super Jump, was looking for something new to inspire him to draw more manga in his new flamboyant art style.
At this point, Araki had spent six years as a full-time mangaka with all his one-shots either being unsuccessful or just not being popular enough for Shonen Jump. His colleagues at the time, Yudetamago, were destroying the top charts with the anime adaptation of Kinnikuman, and even Masakazu Katsura's Wing-man had gotten a live adaptation two years prior.
Araki was not making it big in the manga industry as he had hoped to, and at this point, anyone would start doubting their abilities as a manga artist. But Araki, despite his failures, was driven by his passion for drawing and down in a slump after Gorgeous Irene, he starts working on a new concept called that he called JoJo.
In 1987, seven years after his initial debut, Araki started working on a new concept based on the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone styled characters set in the late 19th century London. At the time, there was not a single manga in Shonen Jump that had foreign characters and as much influence of a foreign culture that Araki portrayed in his work through his unique art style. Hirohiko Araki, at this point, was already a huge fan of European art and influence artists like Paul Gauguin and other Italian artisans works; Araki went on to create something unique with the original JoJo.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood was set in the late 19th century London where the story followed Jonathan Joestar and his struggle against his adopted brother, Dio Brando. Here, the latter kills their father to get his share of the inheritance and becomes a Vampire, and Jonathan learns a new breathing Technique called Hamon and tries to defeat his rogue brother.
The Phantom was although, was not the magnum Opus for Araki, but he finally had a long-running, 44 chapters long manga serialized in Jump. After seven years of hard work, Araki was making a comeback with JoJo Phantom blood, which bolstered his confidence in his abilities as a mangaka who wanted to make it big one day.
Phantom Blood was then compiled into five Volumes, and it was the first successful, well-recognized work by Hirohiko Araki that led on to its sequel, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Battle Tendency.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2 was even more popular with the Japanese Jump Readers at the time than Phantom Blood, and during its serialization in Jump, JoJo Battle Tendency sparked a whole new era for Hirohiko Araki.
He was finally realizing his dream, even though in small increments, but his popularity was growing. Then in 1989, the Battle tendency was finally serialized, with 65 chapters in Shonen Jump, which continued on the Joestar Family's story. It was set right after the events of The Phantom Blood, where Jonathan's wife Erina survived and somehow reached the shores of the new world on a Coffin. And 50 years later, with DIO's miraculous return and with Jonathan's grandson, Joseph taking on the helm of the Joestar Family, the stakes were higher than ever before.
In this part, Jonathan’s struggle against Pillar men, the creators of the stone mask that DIO used to became an immortal Vampire. And this struggle in JoJo part 2 actually propelled JoJo more in the limelight, and the future of the series was looking greater than ever before.
In 1989, Araki, after seeing success with JoJo: Battle Tendency, started his work on another manga series called, The Lives of Eccentrics with his assistant, Hirohisa Onikubo. The new manga was based on real-life events that were JoJofied by Araki in his well-known JoJo art style that we attribute to his works today.
But still, JoJo was Araki's main focus, and JoJo, despite its popularity, still had not gained the notoriety that the big-name manga enjoyed at the time. But that was about to change with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3.
JoJo part 3 Stardust Crusaders is by far the most popular and well-recognized part in not only the Japanese but also on the broader anime community. And this part in 1990, actually propelled the series against the big-name titles, making JoJo one of the biggest assets that Shueisha had at the time.
But that was not all; JoJo itself went through a vision change with the Hamon Battle system revamped by the now new Stand Combat system that has now become iconic and synonymous with the JoJo Franchise,
Araki, in one of his interviews, mentioned that on his editor's advice, he changed the Hamon system into the Stand based power system. And this in of itself was one of the main reasons JoJo Stardust Crusaders gained soo much fame among the Japanese fanbase.

JoJo Part 3 was the turning point of the series. It is the part that foreshadowed what JoJo is going to be like and had all the cool elements of the series. With the new, now iconic, power system and over the top characters in even more so Bizarre poses, JoJo became a sensation in Japan that even Araki was surprised by.
JoJo had created an identity for itself with an amalgam of different cultures, coming together to create a unique experience, unlike any other.
Hirohiko Araki, in his 1993 interview when asked to describe JoJo in one word outlined that:
" JoJo is a work that can't be said described with one word. That's a demerit, but I think that is also a merit. I like to draw people in this world, so I like to create various types of characters. So, to the people who read, buy JoJo comics or JoJo anime, from now on, I hope that they enjoy human characters. It's a wish I want you to do that kind of view."
JoJo, since the success of its Part 3, has continued on its serialization, and right now, at the time of writing, it has eight main parts. The five consequent parts of JoJo like JoJo Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable, JoJo Part 5 Golden Wind, JoJo part 6 Stone Ocean, JoJo Part 7 Steel Ball Run, and finally JoJo Part 8 JoJolion have been critically acclaimed to be among some of the best, well-known manga of all time. Not only in Japan but after the success of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime, it has become one of the best known and well-recognized anime Franchises in the west. JoJo's new popularity in the west is unprecedented and quite perplexing, to say the least.
JoJo, despite all this popularity, is a very unique anime, with even more so unique art and over the top characters/premise. And because of these unique, Bizarre attributes, many people have trouble understanding JoJo and how the events on paper or on-screen are proceeding. One might think that because of these demerits, the series would never gain any popularity or even recognition in the west.
But on the contrary, JoJo uses its Bizarre premise and all those so-called demerits to its advantage. With its ever so absurd and strange situations that make each and every situation, interaction in JoJo not only entertaining but also incredibly amusing to everyone and anyone reading or watching the long-running series. Araki takes normality’s in life and fills even the most serious matters with absurd gags that the fans can't help but fall in love with.

Hirohiko Araki, for seven years, did not give up on his dream to become a mangaka, and now he is one of the greatest mangakas that this new generation of anime fans look up to as an artistic inspiration.
He has become an icon for modern, out of the ordinary manga, where Araki is not afraid to challenge social norms and just draw what he likes and how he likes to.
He has transformed all of his experiences, let them be, a very young Araki practicing at home, making one-shots to get his first debut as a high schooler, or going on a four-hour long trip to Tokyo get answers. Araki has molded each one of his experiences into a unique outlook on life that only he has and imparted that specific outlook into a manga that only he can ever make.
He has been in the anime industry for as long as anyone now currently active can remember and has, over a very long period of time, became one of the best household names in the Japanese anime industry.
There is truly no other personality like Araki in the anime industry that is as dedicated to their craft as Araki is, and he has proven through sheer will and dedication what his style of anime is like and what he, as a professional Mangaka, can offer to his fans and anime industry alike.
Araki has been a Mangaka for 40 years now, and JoJo, his masterpiece, has been in serialization for 37 years. Most of Araki's colleagues have either moved on with their careers to other works or simply have fallen off the grid over time. The younger, or even much older manga fans are either unfamiliar with many of the manga that dominated the 1980s and 1990s outside Japan, but a huge portion of anime fans in Japan do not know many of the old manga series.
The domineering manga like Kinnikuman have either fallen off the grid as old manga or just have been forgotten, lost, and obscured into absurdity.
But Araki's long-running manga series has not only aged well, but with his continued evolution as an artist, JoJo has become a timeless series, just like Hirohiko himself, that fans from all ages, backgrounds, experiences can sit back, relax, enjoy and take their time while navigation through the complex world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Series.
]]>Usually, when a franchise exists for so long, things such as the quality declining or the fans losing interest can happen often, but the JoJo franchise has always proven itself to be consistent and full of life. Featuring entirely new stories that defy expectations every single time, most of the fans admit that the consistency and the quality of writing keeps improving in every new part of the long-running manga.
Thanks to the quality of writing and uniquely bizarre nature of the franchise, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has a colorful cast of characters and Stands, which are diverse in both their design and personalities and has the fans divided between who they love more between the large roster.
The characters include all kinds of power levels, which means that some of them can be seen as comic relief, some are normal and when we go to the serious side of things, the power levels of some characters and their Stands combined can be considered some of the strongest characters not only in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise itself – but also compared to the unrelated world of manga and anime in general.
The power levels of JoJo characters can be extremely ridiculous, with the strongest ones being able to stop, erase, and manipulate time itself. Their powers also include overpowered feats such as the ability to create and manipulate life upon touch, create explosives in items as simple as coins, and even steal souls.
With such powerful characters that can manipulate time and reality, it’s a very tough competition to determine who are the strongest out of them all, but it is not an impossible task if you take a thorough look at their strengths, weaknesses, and the things they were able to achieve within the storylines they were a part of. So, in this articleyou will find the definitive answer to ‘who is the strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character?’ – backed with facts and detail!
Soft & Wet is a uniquely versatile Stand that works best at close-range. In brute strength, it is strong enough to break an entire apartment wall with a single kick and can stand its ground against offensive Stands, but its strength in physical combat is somewhat limited due to the fact it cannot break rocks.
That’s where Bubble Generation comes in, which lets the Stand create floating bubbles that can be controlled by Josuke. The bubbles are tiny cords that are vibrating very fast and look like a sphere. The abilities of the bubbles include lifting heavy objects including humans, the ability to take away things from living and inanimate objects such as a person’s sight, the water in a human’s body, sound, hair, friction, smell, and so on. The ability to take away things like that is extremely effective in fights, which Josuke uses creatively.
Additionally, the bubbles can also have more offensive uses, such as the ability to detonate into explosions that can cause damage in certain ranges, and he can also use the force for non-explosive purposes to push objects or people away by having the bubbles pop close to them. Lastly, he can even cause the bubbles to be embedded under his opponent’s skins and then pop, causing them to be injured.
The limits of the bubbles are nearly endless and rely on the user’s creativity and practice, and since the JoJolion manga is still on-going, we may even see more abilities in time to come. For now, the fact it can lift objects, cause explosions, steal things from people, cause punctures within a person’s skin that can drain someone of water or even injure them, as well as the Stand, in general, having a great deal of raw strength – make Soft & Wet one of the strongest Stands in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, and a threatening duo when combined with Josuke’s creativity.
While from a conventional standpoint, Harvest and Shigekiyo are seen as comic-relief characters who are eventually killed off to act as a motivation for the protagonists – but if you stop and think about the Harvest Stand properly, it’s potentially strong enough to destroy cities.
The Stand consists of 500 units of small beings, that can act as a long-range stand that can travel through cities and cover entire colonies. Each of the individual units can punch a hole into human flesh, and they also have needles that they can inject into people through which they can insert any liquid they wish to. Additionally, they can also dismantle things very fast, and even if one of them dies, it does not cause any harm to its user.
With 500 individual units who can punch through flesh and even inject people with poison or any other liquid, if used by someone with sinister plans, can poison and kill entire cities. And even in a fight, fighting 500 of these is just very difficult, especially if the user controls them creatively.
The only reason we don’t see that side of the Stand is because Shigekiyo is a kid and his plans are to just collect coins and coupons. So, while many people would disagree with this, the potential to overthrow towns and poison an entire city is just too dangerous to ignore.
This list wouldn’t be complete without the iconic Star Platinum and The World, because they are easily one of the strongest characters and Stands in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, which is something that can easily be seen even in Stardust Crusaders, as well as any media they are generally featured in.
With extreme brute strength and surprising endurance, the two Stands can face almost any threat on their own and defeat most Stands irrespective of how powerful they are, but it is their additional power to stop time itself that gives them an increased edge over the others. The ability to pause time lets them beat their opponent to a pulp before they can even realize what happened, as well as use it to escape and perform other tasks.
The fact Jotaro Kujo (check our new article of Jotaro!) and Dio Brando are very strong without their Stands is remarkable as well, and their strengths enhance the way their Stands are used – such as Dio’s vampire abilities helping him in battle, and Jotaro’s creative thinking giving him an edge over Dio despite Dio being conventionally stronger.
Diavolo’s Stand King Crimson is one of the strongest and deadliest Stands in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, in both brute strength and the ability to erase time itself. The Stand is considered invincible against a large number of other Stands, even if particularly powerful, due to its unique ability to tamper with time that renders them useless.
The brute strength of King Crimson is generally compared to the likes of Star Platinum and The World, although it can be safely assumed it’s not as powerful as them. But its power to tamper with time is quite unique, as it does not pause time like the other Stands, rather it can foresee the future actions of its opponents and then erase it, with the person having no memories of it occurring and they suddenly find themselves in the situation they are supposed to be in after Diavolo’s changes.
Having an extremely deadly Stand that can fight some of the most powerful offensive Stands, as well as the ability to see the future of its opponents and then erase it, rewriting a new version and putting them in the altered turn of events – is one of the most unique and deadly abilities in the JoJo franchise, and makes Diavolo and King Crimson one of the deadliest duos you can encounter.
Weather Report is the name to both a character who happens to be Enrico Pucci’s brother and an extremely powerful Stand with ridiculous strength, which is later carried onto Emporio Alniño. It’s a very versatile Stand that can control the weather at its will, and the things it can do through that power are insane.
It can manipulate the atmosphere around itself, and through that, it can summon different things such as wind, rain, lightning and can even create micro-climates that can range as far as to 30km. The user has control over these things so he can further shape it to create heavy rain, fog, and even specific sunny spots within the large radius of the rain.
Its wind abilities are particularly useful due to the fact it allows the user to detect movement, and in close-range, the wind can be strong enough to pierce through flesh. Furthermore, it can control humidity and clouds which can act as both offensive and defensive options thanks to a large number of possibilities, such as clouds being used for defense.
Additionally, it can also manipulate oxygen in an area, which can be lethal enough to kill someone if used correctly, which is an extremely powerful and subtle ability. It can summon electricity within the user’s body which they can use to electrocute their enemies, and lastly, an unlikely ability is that it can rain poisonous frogs and other animals of that type in some cases, which is similar to how a tornado can bring animals from a different area.
On top of all that, there is another form to the ability called Heavy Weather, which is automated based on the user’s emotions (mainly rage). It can generate tons of rainbows within its vicinity and if someone touches them, they immediately morph into a snail. The transformation varies between giant snails or small snails, if people or animals touch those snails, they turn into one as well. The only way to stop this is to kill the person or close your eyes, as the person is unable to see the rays that cause them to transform.
Although the abilities sound absurd, they are extremely effective in a battle, especially due to the unpredictability and abnormal nature of them, and have been strong enough to challenge and kill opponents with power levels of Enrico Pucci himself.
Enrico Pucci is one of the most notable villains in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, mainly due to the fact he managed to do what no other antagonist could do – kill Jotaro Kujo. Granted, Jotaro was not at his peak and also failed because of an attempt to protect Jolyne Cujoh – but even a non-peak Jotaro, combined with other allies AND another Joestar who has her own set of powers is a force to be reckoned with, and defeating them is a major achievement.
At first, he has the Whitesnake Stand which has a long list of abilities. It has a range as long as 20 meters and is still strong enough to fight offensive Stands easily. The other ability is to produce acid that digests objects, and when being dissolved by it, the person enters a dream-like state where they can’t differentiate between the dream and reality.
It can also disguise itself as other people and have special ‘Discs’ which can extract a person’s Stand or memories in the discs, extracting them physically. And the extraction can even cause the victim’s body to go in a comatose state or die entirely. Lastly, through the discs, it can even make people do ridiculous things such as making a person’s body a music player.
The first evolution of Whitesnake is the C-Moon Stand, which gains new abilities such as shifting gravity, which can cause people to lose balance or objects to break, and Pucci and his Stand can walk around freely without repercussions. It can also touch objects and cause them to inverse and then reverse the effect by touching it again.
C-Moon’s attacks are destructive enough to cause fatal damage, such as stopping hearts and depriving the brain of oxygen. Lastly, it can accelerate time which causes everything around it to be affected, whether it is a living being or a random object. However, Enrico Pucci cannot properly control this phase of time acceleration in the Stand.
The final evolution to his Stand, and the most important one, is Made in Heaven. It is an extremely powerful close-range Stand, which can control time on top of all of the other abilities Enrico Pucci was already able to use, easily acting as a counter to time-controlling Stands like Star Platinum.
It has the strongest version of time acceleration which allows it to speed up time to such an extent that it can bring about the apocalypse and even restart the world, and speed up other things such as a Stand’s ability to slow down/pause time as well. Enrico Pucci on the other hand has great speed and agility himself, and that usually helps him use
The ability to steal Stands and memories of other people, accelerate time and create a new world through it, cancel out time-controlling of opponents, and generally having strength that to be fatal enough to tear people apart with strikes – easily make Enrico Pucci one of the scariest antagonists in the JoJo franchise due to the sheer strength and endless list of abilities.
President Funny Valentine has one of the most unique Stands in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, called Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. The reason it’s so unique and versatile is mainly because of the fact it can tamper with the multiverse. In its normal form and basic usage, it is a close-ranged stand with normal speed and strength, although it can often deliver particularly strong hits and display speed faster than its average.
Its true strength comes through its ability to hop between dimensions, and Funny Valentine’s creativity is one of the factors that make it even more dangerous. Through its use, different dimensions can co-exist at the same time and the user can even interact with them without suffering any consequences. Funny can travel through dimensions and interact with objects, which allows him to appear out of anywhere as a result and surprise his opponents. On top of that, he can also create holes in part of his body that causes projectiles to go through it without harming his body.
While Funny can co-exist with other versions of himself, it does not work that way with others as they can harm each other or die upon touch, with the only way to avoid it is going back to their own dimension as soon as they can. Due to this, Funny uses this against his enemies and often traps them within the other dimensions or causing them to harm themselves. He can also pull objects through the other dimensions to suddenly attack an unsuspecting enemy with them, thanks to the endless possibilities of his ability.
He can also transfer his consciousness and Stand to different versions of himself if badly injured, which then makes the version of him with the Stand the ‘main’ version.
His abilities do not stop here, as an evolved version of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap exists which is called ’Love Train’, which is gained by the ‘Saint’s Corpse’. When activated, it makes Funny Valentine nearly invincible, which redirects all possible misfortune that could come towards his way far from him through a wall of light. Aside from the invincibility, he can also glide at high speeds, float, or even flatten his shape.
Objects such as trees, signs, and even water becomes closer to Funny and the changes in position cause them to protect him if he is about to be hit. And on top of all of this, Love Train can make most of its attacks fatal and the damage reaches spots that would quickly cause the person to die.
With all of these abilities and very few weaknesses, Funny Valentine and his Stand Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is amazingly overpowered, and among the strongest Stands in the entire franchise, vulnerable to only a few things such as the Golden Spin.
Johnny Joestar possesses a unique Stand called Tusk, which is one of the strongest and most versatile Stands in the JoJo franchise. Much like the Echoes Stand from Part 4, Tusk is a Stand that acts through multiple forms, and each of the forms (referred to as Acts) is stronger than the previous one.
The Tusk Stand functions through the Spin phenomenon introduced in the new continuity, which allows the user to use special rotational attacks referred to as Spin, and can be compared to the Ripple ability from the original universe. At ACT1, Johnny is given the ability to spin his fingernails and toenails at such a high speed that they can act as a bullet, being able to cut through wood, human flesh, and even rocks.
ACT2 lets Johnny use an enhanced version of the nail bullets, and even allows him to rotate them around his fingers like axes which allow him to drill as well. They also temporarily leave holes behind after impact, which Johnny can direct towards a target and once they touch the target, it is like they were hit by a bullet. The holes are also void by definition, so they cannot be sent to a different dimension by Stands like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.
ACT3 grants Johnny the ability to shoot himself with his fingernail using aureal rotation, and he can use the hole created by the shot as something he can suck himself into. The hole becomes a special place that acts like a wormhole, through which Johnny can travel to a different place strategically or use certain parts of his body such as his hands through which he can shoot strategically and often surprise his enemies.
In ACT4, the final and most powerful evolution that makes the Tusk Stand and its user worthy of Top 3rd most powerful JoJo character, allowing Johnny to gain outrageously powerful abilities through the use of the Golden Spin. While difficult to deploy, once used it has infinite energy which can be used in a couple of ways, such as breaking through dimensional barriers (like Love Train’s), defying the law of gravity, cause an insane amount of damage, and upon touch it can cause people to spin infinitely, to the point it distorts their shape and throws them in a different dimension. The person travels through different parts of the dimension, dropping on the spot where they were attacked originally.
Additionally, Johnny can also use these abilities to travel and even use them like a carriage, and he can enter the pocket dimensions of other people such as Funny Valentine himself.
All of these abilities in Tusk ACT4 make Johnny Joestar one of the strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure characters in the main canon, having the ability to travel through dimensions, use his nails as powerful bullets, and forcing his opponents in infinite loops where they can even go through dimensions, trapped mercilessly.
When keeping only the canon stories of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in mind, the one thing the majority of the fanbase can agree on is the fact Giorno Giovanna’s Gold Experience Requiem is the strongest Stand in all of the parts of JoJo combined, which makes Giorno Giovanna stronger than any protagonist or antagonist in the franchise. Take a look of our article dedicated to Giorno Giovanna!
The reason behind that is simple – once the Gold Experience Stand is pierced with the mysterious Arrow (which can awaken and evolve Stands), it gains powers that can defy all logic around it, no matter how powerful the opposition is.
Gold Experience Requiem can revert the state of anything to ’zero’, which means it can undo the actions of any person or Stand with ease, granting it a potentially infinite amount of power that can stop or undo any threat that can stand in its way. It can grant its enemies endless deaths as they can experience dying until the point of reaching zero, creating a new reality where their existence is stuck in a loop.
If all of that wasn’t enough, the general ability of Gold Experience to create and manipulate life is enhanced in the Requiem form, which allows it to use it offensively as well, as displayed when it attacks Diaviolo’s hand and pierces it through, but the same beam of creates scorpions which proceed to attack him. This easily surpasses King Crimson’s ability to stop and erase time, which allowed it to reset the attacks of its opponents.
So with the power of simply resetting and erasing everything before it even began, trapping people in eternal death loops, and a stronger version of creating and manipulating life which can even be paired with attacks to double the offense – Gold Experience Requiem is not only a ridiculously powerful Stand that can defy logic as a whole, it is also the strongest Stand we have seen in the franchise so far when it comes to canon.
We have finally reached the point where we talk about THE strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character of all time – and it is a tie between two characters as they are almost on the same level of power. Like often in the main storyline of JoJo itself, it has all come full circle with a Joestar up against Dio Brando, and to make it even more iconic, it is none other than Jotaro Kujo in this case. This is the only appearance of non-canon characters on the list because it’s just so hard to ignore the awesome power!
Let’s talk about Heaven Ascension DIO first, and what makes him one of the only two JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure characters to be this powerful on the list.
Originally from an alternate universe, this version of Dio managed to kill every single Joestar in his world, and also completed his goal of ‘obtaining heaven’, which was something he never managed to do in the main continuity. After this, he collected the souls of the ’36 sinners’, which allowed him to evolve his Stand The World to powers beyond logic, and rewrote all of humanity to worship him. He also gains the knowledge of the ‘Saint's Corpse Parts’ and becomes even more powerful after gaining the spine.
Aside from his power to rewrite anything he can punch with his new evolved The World Over Heaven, he also has the powers to teleport, regenerate very quickly, resurrect dead people, control minds, summon bolts of lightning and also travel dimensionally.
When he goes to war with the Joestars of the main continuity, he defeats Gold Experience Requiem and Tusk Act 4 with ease, which is a task to be acknowledged since Gold Experience Requiem is the second strongest Stand in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise. The ability to rewrite anything in history by simply touching it just gives him an unlimited amount of power, and through this, he is able to erase and defeat every single Joestar except Jotaro Kujo.
Now, let’s talk about the only JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character that can beat Heaven Ascension DIO, and eventually, take place as the Top 1 strongest character – Jotaro Kujo with his evolved Stand Star Platinum Over Heaven.
When Jotaro Kujo has the final battle against Heaven Ascension DIO, he tricks DIO into punching the bracelets of the Dio from the original world, which causes Heaven Ascension Dio’s fists to be injured and he cannot rewrite history until they heal. This means that the only weakness Heaven Ascension DIO has is that unlike Funny Valentine, he cannot co-exist with another version of himself, and touching each other greatly injures them.
As a result of these events, similar to how Star Platinum gains the ability to stop time, Star Platinum learns the ability to rewrite history from The World Over Heaven. This causes Jotaro Kujo to have the same power as Heaven Ascension DIO, although his appearance does not change unlike Dio and his Stand’s. With the newfound power, he erases DIO from history, causing all of the souls within him to be freed – and rewrites the universe to be a peaceful one without any of Dio’s influence, and all of the Joestars live a peaceful life.
So, Heaven Ascension Dio and Jotaro Kujo with Star Platinum Over Heaven have the same tier of power – but Jotaro’s righteousness and quick-thinking put him a tier above, making him THE most powerful JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character of all time.

]]>JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is widely hailed as one of the most famous and influential manga of all time. With hitting the 30-years of publication milestone in 2017, the storyline for the manga has yet to end. Having sold over 100 million copies to date, claiming JoJo caters to a small number of people is undeniably false. Though, we aren’t here for the manga, right?
Most anime viewers know JoJo for its supposedly ‘first’ anime adaptation in 2012. Although this statement does hold some truth, it is not entirely accurate. In 1993, a studio named A.P.P.P. (Another Push Pin Planning) took the liberty of animating the manga for the very first time. The series was released as an OVA series called JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, and it fared relatively well. The reviews were good, but not great. The animation got better over the years as more OVA episodes were released, but it lacked the ‘oomph’ to set it different from other anime.
Enter 2012, and a reboot of the anime begins airing, giving JoJo the fame it has today. However, one can’t help but wonder, what makes the anime so good? If you’re on the fence for deciding whether to delve into the series or not, this list of reasons may help you.
The story begins with an introduction to the Joestar family, staring Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando. Most JoJos get the title from the initials of their names. Furthermore, Dio is the adopted brother of Jonathan, the first JoJo, who comes across a cursed mask that turns Dio into an undying vampire. Thus, beginning the ultimate rivalry and leading premise for the entire storyline of the JoJo lineage.
With Dio having killed his adoptive father, Jonathan sets out on the quest for stopping Dio for good. Although he manages to achieve his goal, the story knocks the viewers’ socks off by bringing Dio back to life, killing off Jonathan, and stealing his body. Crazy, right? Furthermore, each story arc of the anime takes a time leap and introduces the JoJo of that era, tracing their adventures with them. Hence, the reason for the title — JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures.
The cast and plot continue to expand with each arc. After Jonathan, his grandson Joseph Joestar becomes the protagonist. Joseph sets on the quest to defeating prehistoric vampiric creatures known as the Pillar Men and succeeds. Joseph continues to live, but his grandson Jotaro Kujo — the poster character of the series, becomes the new JoJo.
With the introduction of a new power called a Stand, Jotaro, along with his grandfather and friends, leaves on an international trip for finding and killing Dio. Following the end of Dio’s reign, Jotaro comes across the illegitimate son of Joseph, Josuke. Both JoJos set on a new dramatic quest for tracking down a serial killer with Stand powers. Finally, at least for now, the show ventures into the dramatic tale of Giorno Giovanna and a mafia-based story, in Italy. It is an absolute delight to watch writer Hirohiko Araki come up with new ideas for characters and adventures, with a touch of his unique character design.
If anything, the JoJo series is well known for its odd but enticing characters. From comedic, entertaining personalities and interactions to stern life and death situations, the show does not disappoint. Instead of following the generic trend set by most shounen anime, Araki plays his cards differently. Not only the JoJos but the side characters and the amount of development each character gets is astonishing.
Going from Jonathan, a mild-mannered character with a heart of gold, to the delinquent yet badass Jotaro Kujo, JoJo has it all. The fanbase is equally divided on their favorite JoJos, further proving how good the character-writing is. Similarly, one cannot overlook the villains either. After conducting several polls for top favorite JoJo characters, and this may shock you but several made it to the top 10 list! Additionally, Dio Brando ranked above several JoJos as well.
Moreover, the side characters were also quite memorable. With the addition of characters like Speedwagon, Avdol, Polnareff, and more recently — Bruno Bucciatari, these characters are too hard to let go.
The entire series of JoJo and his bizarre adventures have provided us with impressive and memorable soundscores. Ranging from the very first opening theme Sono Chi No Sadame, all the way to the 9th opening theme: Traitor’s Requiem. Just the opening theme songs have harbored over 100 million views on platforms like YouTube.
Furthermore, with a vast array of musical genre combinations, the soundscore varies with each JoJo, supplementing their personality traits. Jonathan’s gentle and righteous personality landed him a classical soundtrack, while the likes of Jotaro and his demagogue personality landed him a more rock-themed soundscore.
The recently acclaimed Golden Wind from Giorno’s arc has received praise by fans and non-fans of JoJo alike. Thus, adding more to the splendor of JoJo and how it has attracted millions of non-anime viewers into anime. Additionally, it would be wrong not to praise the spectacular job done by the voice actors. These individuals are responsible for breathing life into these characters, immersing us viewers further into the anime. And undoubtedly, they delivered. Another aspect the anime deserves praise is for the attention to detail the staff put into the sound effects. The 2012 adaptation had brilliant sound effects, and despite that, the production team has only gotten better with each story arc.
Back when the first OVAs were released in 1993, JoJo’s animation was considered on par with bigger competitors like Dragon Ball Z. However, on par does not necessarily mean outstanding. With the release of 2012’s remake, JoJo started full throttle with its now trademark animation style, leaving the fans wanting more.
What made the animation stunning was not the animation quality rather the animation style. David Productions, the studio responsible for animating JoJo, did a remarkable job at adopting the original content. Therefore, the genius of Araki truly emanates from the anime.
The animation comprises of cliché fights with cheesy dialogue, but that’s the beauty of JoJo. It targets the tropes most anime consider redundant, adding a pinch of Araki’s creativity and making it seem unique. From the weakest enemy to the prime antagonist, all fights are full of thrilling and dramatic turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Besides, this is where the excellent character writing also kicks in, diversifying each character’s fighting style and battle tactics. For instance, Joseph and his cunning nature would leave even the wittiest of opponents in shock, predicting their next moves.
Many viewers, including me, were first introduced to the world of anime with classics such as Death Note and Code Geass. Before that, it was the Dragon Ball series as well as other long-running shows like Naruto and Bleach. However, the trends have finally begun to change once again. JoJo has now become one of the few shows’ fans can suggest their friends, to dive into the world of anime. Though JoJo did not receive the same love and praise from its first few arcs, the writer and the production team strived to improve, making JoJo one of the best anime to this day.

]]>In the midst of this quarantine, everyone is losing their mind. We got to see Golden Wind's anime adaptation and now everyone is waiting for the stone ocean to make its debut in anime. But something popped into my mind. Why not make a compilation of the Top 10 Jojo Bizarre Adventure's Epic Moments. The list will include Jojo Bizarre Adventure's seasons that have an anime adaptation.
So sit back and relax - enjoy the epic top 10 ten list. Maybe grab some popcorn?
In the first JoJo Bizarre Adventure season where the whole thing happened, we get to see the first epic moment of all time. Jonathan is known for keeping composure and having an over the top calm attitude. However, Dio was constantly jealous and pissed at Jonathan. A lot happened.
He burned his dog alive and most importantly, DIO KISSES ERINA! (JoJo's Girlfriend). This put Jonathan's life into shambles and he soon realizes that there's no way he's going to be the good guy anymore.
We are talking about one of the best (my personal fav) Jojo Bizarre Adventure Seasons here. Back to the subject in hand, after finding out what Dio was doing sneakily, this epic moment starts when Jonathan runs into the Joestar mansion and starts beating Dio like a real fighter.
And GODDAMN - the intensity. He wouldn't let Dio alone. Everyone got quite surprised to see such a pure soul beating a devil effortlessly and ruthlessly. This was the moment where their beef started to fire up even more. From that moment forward, all the vampire stuff happened.
Therefore, considering all the plus points this fight had, it's one of our most favorite Jojo Bizarre Adventure episodes of all time.
In this episode of Stardust Crusaders' timeline, Steely Dan made his debut for a little time. However, he did the best he could to humiliate Jotaro. The outcome? Well, PAINFUL! Who knew this genius henchman of Dio would actually take Joseph as his hostage.
Jotaro totally fell for it and Dan made him work - a LOT! He humiliated Jotaro where he could. Made him steal stuff and then blame him for stealing. Steely was blinded by revenge. Therefore, he even blamed a child to save his own butt.
So what happened? His luck ran out. What was the outcome? ORA ORA ORA ORA.
You wouldn't believe how painful Jotaro did him. For a mere 30 seconds, you say? This was the longest 30 second moment Steely Dan had in his life. We personally loved every second of it though. This made us realize how ruthless Jotaro is compared to his ancestors.
Stardust Crusaders was one of the most exciting Jojo Bizarre adventure seasons out there. Don't be a part skipper, watch it!
I know, I know, this might not be the most epic moment but it gave us a rough idea about the mindset of Kira. At first, Kira seemed a man of culture. He was calm and composed. A very successful person. However, as the season continued, his character developed into a monster.
Who remembers his hand collecting fetish? Well, back to the topic, Shigechi's death was somewhat of an epic moment for most people. Though he died a very mediocre and fearsome death, it was worth noting that Shigechi's character had developed a lot in a short time.
From not sharing to sharing and caring, he went fully developed in terms of characters and powers. He also helped in finding clues about different enemies throughout the series and helped the same importance some other members of the DiU gang did.
However, one sad day, he stole a sandwich that he found against a tree. And unfortunately, it belonged to Kira. What's the first thing you think of when we talk about Kira. HANDS. The bag had the hand of a young beautiful woman.
Kira became furious. He found out that Shigechi caused this ruckus and turned the school door knob into a bomb. And as soon as Shigechi touched the knob, BOOM. Rest in peace. Using his overpowered stand, Kira got rid of the evidence - Shigechi.
This was one of the saddest Jojo Bizarre Adventure episodes.
Giorno is the son of DIO. However, considering the circumstances he went through, he didn't display hatred or evilness like his father. And the fact that he had to go through Polpo's test to enter Passione, he saw Polpo's stand killing an innocent old man. He just couldn't hold back his anger and just wanted to get rid of Polpo.
In Gionro's pure eyes, murder was the case. Justice must be served. He made up his mind. By killing Polpo, his satisfaction with justice would be solved. Here's what he came up with. Giorno sneakily transformed Polpo's banana into a gun. And here's what Giorno said:
That moment onwards, Polpo opened the banana but it was too late to stop. It turned into a gun and his life was - over. Even though he stands, Black Sabbath tries to save him. However, it was too late and we saw blood all over the place too.
This was one of the most epic Jojo Bizarre Adventure episodes of all time.
Joseph Joestar looks a little naive and cocky. A lot of people love him while others hate him. I personally loved his character and development throughout the series. He is one of the most developed characters in any Jojo Bizarre Adventure season we have to seem.
However, in the Battle Tendency part, we have seen him doing something pretty "Bizarre". By predicting the next line of his opponent, he would surprise them. Even though this trick was probably the weakest and stupidest thing to fight with his enemies, Joseph made the most powerful characters surprised and left their brains into shambles.
But most surprisingly enough, getting enemies caught off guard is his specialty. Every time he predicted the next line, Joseph, my man, was always right.
It was rather scary to see what a guy with Hamon had up in his sleeves.
This JOJO Bizarre Adventure timeline was probably the most fun and scary at the same time.

This epic clash was the building block of JoJo Bizarre Adventure's story. At first, Speedwagon was considered as a villain. As Dio drugged Jojo's father, Jonathan goes to London to find a cure for his father. This was the time when Jonathan met Speedwagon.
In the midst of finding a cure for George, Johnathon is ambushed by the mighty Speedwagon gang. Speedwagon was the leader of that gang and had some skilled fighters in his team. The fight was rather short but this was probably the biggest character development Jonathan had in that Jojo Bizarre Adventure's timeline.
While fighting for his life, he doesn't kill anyone. He just knocks them down to keep them alive but not moving. Even at his deepest darkest times, he still didn't stray from his pure heart. This was the fight that told us what pure character Jonathan had. Having such a beautiful character, Speedwagon became his fan.
From that moment onward, Wagon-Kun decided to serve Jonathan for life - swearing his loyalty to him. This is another epic moment in the history of JJBA as it served the base of the whole timeline.
The whole golden wind arc has everyone shiver in fear and curiosity. No one knew who the boss was. His powers - unknown. His face - unknown. Everything was a mystery for the boss. His most fearful fight starts when he sees Trish getting taken ruthlessly by his boss. His conscience comes out. BUcciarati decided to screw everything off and fight for Trish to bring her back.
Therefore, the boss also decided to show his stand to the most capable character there was. This was the first time we got to see the time skipping the ability of King Crimson. The ability was explained pretty soundly in the anime and it was fearsome.
What I've personally noticed is that the most powerful characters in JJBA have the power related to time. Consider the example of Dio, Jotaro, Kira, Boss, and PUCCI in the manga. Back to the fight. Bucciarati tries his best to outsmart the boss but in the end - DO YOU WANT A DONUT? He goes down with a big hole in his chest. I know that's the Jojo Bizarre Adventure timeline's tradition. Happened with many characters so I won't go deep into spoiling content.
King Crimson isn't the most well-known stand of all time but the power was epic and fearsome.
Man, after waiting for an eternity, Kira finally dies. Just imagine having to watch the same thing over and over again. How he literally mentally tortures Hayato. How Hayato has to go through hell every day just to tell someone to listen to him.
I was having a BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN while watching the last episode and it finally happened. To the sound of an ambulance, we got to say farewell to Yoshikage Kira. Jotaro did an excellent job of giving all he's got into that moment. He really Ora Ora-ed Kira's face making a living hell out of his face.
And in the end, I thought, "Remi would be so glad". Which she was considering Kira had to meet the same fate as her.
Kira was by far my most favorite villain in any Jojo Bizarre Adventure seasons I've seen. A beautiful role as a villain was portrayed in an exciting and never-ending manner.
At the end of the Battle Tendency arc, everyone thought that Joseph died. To be honest, I was surprised. At that point, I thought that every JoJo would meet death at a very young age. To my surprise, I was totally wrong.
Joseph probably lived the longest of all JoJos. You just got to give him a thumbs up for being so unpredictable that death itself can't comprehend. Just when his funeral was happening, everyone was crying, sobbing, sad in fear, he came back unharmed.
Like WOW. how can a guy cheat death itself (like he cheated his wife)? But leave it to the man for being the most unpredictable character of the Jojo Bizarre Adventure's timeline. The result of this confusion was due to his new wifey who failed to tell everyone that he was alive.
Joseph was in love. What a beautiful thing to see.
Mommy Bucciarati and his gang beat the hell out of Zucchero and give him a hard time to gain information. However, he is totally ready for any sort of torture. To his surprise, the gang's method is a little too - FLASHY!.
Mista tortured him by tugging his eyes with a fish rod. Bucciarati puts a zipper on his mouth. His eyes were burning and he had to see them dancing to something funky played by Narancia. This was another epic moment where the gang seemed chill - not knowing what was coming to them.

After compiling the list of our top 10 Jojo bizarre adventure moments, we can see how awesome of an anime Araki made. There are times when you do not know what's going to happen. And there are times when you know what's going to happen but the exact opposite just happens.
Jojo Bizarre Adventure is a masterpiece that literally everyone should watch.

Well then, shall we begin?
The Man known by his catchphrase, “I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream,”
Giorno Giovanna is the main protagonist of JoJo Bizarre Adventures Part 5, and is the 5th JoJo. Some say, he has the strongest stand “Gold Experience Requiem”
On the other hand, Diavolo is the main antagonist of Part 5, his stand is “King Crimson”. So it was only a matter of time before these two came face to face each other.
Now what makes this fight so significant isn’t just that Giorno was able to take his stand to the next level, this fight also put an end to Diavolo’s rule over Passione.
This happens when the Joestar Group got cornered into several gambles against Daniel J. D’Arby, a guy with a stand that can actually steel people’s souls.
But after seeing that both Polnareff and Joseph lost to D’arby.
Jotaro had to put his game face on and get serious.
There was also the risk of losing his soul, so even for Jotaro this wasn’t an easy battle. But in the end, Jotaro manages to make D’Arby free all of the souls that he had trapped before.
It was an interesting battle, considering how Jotaro literally managed to bluff his way out of a fight against a hardcore gambler.
Wamuu is a proud antagonist of Battle Tendency, as well as a personal rival to Joseph Joestar.
He takes pride in fighting and only acknowledges the strong. You can even say that there’s never a dull moment with him around.
Wamuu has gone up against Caesar twice, he also described him as, “A man as magnificent and as fleeting as his bubbles.”
Now during the Battle Tendecy arc, Mark tried to stop Wamuu, only to get severely wounded by him. Caesar had to intervene to put his dying friend out of misery.
And then after that, he went up against Wamuu!
Risotto had some extreme hostility toward the boss Diavolo. He also tries to capture his daughter to get to him.
“So Trish is around there somewhere... They're getting closer... I will kill them all. I swear it.”-Risotto Nero.
But then he confronts Doppio, who is the kind of guy that Diavolo would trust with his everything. He is even allowed to partly wield the King Crimson stand.
On the other hand, Risotto’s stand is all about magnetism.
Now even though Risotto was overpowering Doppio for the majority of the game, in the end he lost.
As the main antagonist of Diamond is Unbreakable, Kira Yoshikage wasn’t someone that could be looked down upon.
“I want a peaceful life. It's just that it's in my nature to kill.”-Kira Yoshikage
Even his stand has “Killer” in its name, it’s called Killer Queen and it has the ability to cleanly and completely wipe out objects, whether they are living or non-living.
And then of course, we have Jotaro, and even against someone this strong, Jotaro just manned up and punched him in the face.
There are not many JoJo characters who are well known even among those who haven’t even watched JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure yet.
And the one JoJo’s Bizarre Aventure character who has been rampaging on the internet as the famous “Kono Dio Da” JoJo reference is Dio Brando himself.
Not to mention, he is also the main antagonist of Part 1 and Part 3. Which sounds even crazier when you consider how Dio is the father of the main protagonist of part 5 Giorno Girovanna.
Anyways, his fight against Jonathan has been acknowledged by fans as one of the greatest JoJo fights.
Even though the outcome of that fight was a bit sad.
“To me, only the strong are real! Victory alone is just and admirable...”-Wamuu.
After taking care of both Mark and Caesar as well as acknowledging Caesar’s strength by calling him a worthy warrior.
Wamuu confronts Joseph!
As the climax of a great battle, this fight is still as vivid as it has always been in the minds of many JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fans.
In the end, Wamuu was defeated by Joestar as it gradually turned into a battle of wits. And just like that, Wamuu smiles and perishes into ash.
As the main protagonist of Diamond is Unbreakable, Josuke who looks like a regular high schooler has very interesting hair.
His stand is Crazy Diamond. It is an ability that allows him to heal others. Which is a very good thing to have.
Now Josuke’s fight against the antagonist of Diamond is Unbreakable is a display of extreme determination. He wanted to save Morioh and he did, but even though he defeated Kira, he didn’t kill him because killing goes against his principles.
So no matter what anyone says about his hair, he is an extremely cool dude.
This legendary fight takes place just before the final battle of Stardust Crusaders.
Both Iggy and Polnareff take on Vanilla Ice, who is the right hand man of Dio Brando, the antagonist of Part 1 and Part 3.
What’s interesting is that regardless of his name, Dio’s right hand man can sometimes be even more frightening than Dio himself.
But how the tides can turn.
In the end, Iggy somehow manages to save Polnareff and use Vanilla Ice’s own strength against him. It did cost him his own life though. But Polnareff managed to defeat Vanilla Ice because of that.
This fight is one of the greatest and I don’t just mean among all of the JoJo fights, this fight is one of the greatest fights in all of anime.
After travelling for quite some time, Jotaro came face to face with the man who had been bugging the Joestar family. And that person is none other than Dio Brando himself. The man who even took Joseph’s life.
That’s exactly why, Jotaro, who normally doesn’t show his emotions got equipped with rage. In the end, the fight ended with Jotaro’s victory as he realizes that his stand can also stop time.
Now, each one of these fights, even the ones that are not mentioned here, are all legendary moments that we, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures fyans, feel an emotional connection with!

]]>Here, we will cover everything you need to know about JoJo Part 6, including the JoJo: Stone Ocean updates, latest news, the previous JoJo anime sales, and how the development in the previous JoJo anime seasons may Impact the much-anticipated JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean anime adaptation.
So, buckle up and let's get started.
No, JoJo part 6 is not yet confirmed. No matter what you have come across on the internet, there has been no news about JoJo Part 6 getting an anime adaptation yet! David Productions has not released any new information about JoJo Part 6. None of their producers, as some misleading news articles might make you believe, have released any public statement regarding JoJo Part 6: Stone Ocean getting an anime adaptation.
(As soon as information becomes available, we will update the blog accordingly.)
But Even though the anime adaptation has not been confirmed or even hinted towards by David Productions. JoJo’s Part 6: Stone Oceans anime adaptation may just get delayed until 2022, or it may just never even happen.
Normally when a manga or light novel gets an anime adaptation in Japan, it is either to promote, bolster the manga or Light Novel sales, or any other such product, even anime figurines, and other anime merch, etc. Studios and production houses have to do this because just making anime is not as profitable on its own. And for them to get their investment back, they have to wait years just to break even and make it worth their time.
And, if it is an original adaptation, Studios then license it out to other publications and make sure that they have multiple small, if not big, sponsors for that original anime.
For example, anime studios like P.A Works, who mainly focus on making original anime, actually work with a lot of sponsors, local tourism entities, and have a lot of small subsidiaries studios that work under them. So, they can actually make the anime they produce profitable as long as their sponsors support those anime. But, Studio's like P.A works are unique and go against the normal standard of anime production in Japan.
More traditional Anime Studio's like David Productions directly make money by having multiple producers funding the anime and through Blue-Ray/DVD and anime merch sales.
Their primary source of income is the Blue-Ray/DVD sales, and the secondary source that they earn money through is are the licensing deals where the producers get their investment back. The licensing makes up a significant chunk of the animes revenue but since the producers. Manufacturers, distributors, etc. are involved, and Anime studios just get small chunks of profits from them.
So, the Studio's themselves are more focused on selling the Blue-Ray/DVD's of the actual anime, and that is where the Studio's themselves earn their main profits from.
So, money is the major driving force that motivates studios and production houses actually to start making any anime. And here many JoJo fans wonder, surely being a household name, JoJo must be an extremely profitable franchise.
Well, it is not that simple.
Now, JoJo's anime from an entirely western point of view; actually, started to gain traction in the west when David Production announced in 2011 that they would be adapting the long due old Manga of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure into an entire anime.
The manga, although had previous adaptations, they were very old, going way back to 1993, and by 2011, there was only a very niche community of the fandom outside Japan who had actually watched the old JoJo.
So, starting with the current JoJo's anime lineup, David Production's re-did the manga adaptation from scratch. They started from the first chapter, and, in the first season, the Studio covered the first two parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. And this is crucial, as David Productions was tasked with the production of the first two parts as to celebrate the 25 year-long runs of the manga series, and they did such an exemplary job over the first season that the anime just blew up in the western anime community.
The popularity was unprecedented, and even more so, the anime in Japan did so well that it spawned the animation cycle of the other parts that we have witnessed in the last few years.
But there is a catch. Although the first season of JoJo was exceptionally successful, the same can't be said for the other, subsequent seasons.
Don't get us wrong; the following anime seasons were great. The animation was breathtaking, smooth, and the story was well-paced, but the sales of the other seasons are going on a downward trend.
You may argue that the first Season of JoJo aired eight years ago, and the other seasons did not have that much time to match up with the sales of the first season. But the Blue Ray sales actually peak up during the time when the anime is airing, and one year after the last Blue-ray/DVD has been released, the sales totally die down unless there is a resurgence in the franchise.
And, plenty of time has passed since the animes release, and the numbers are pretty much dead set in place at this point. Now, others may even point out that because of the rise of streaming services, the physical sales of the anime discs are dying, and that is true.
But these are the Blue-Ray/DVD sales in Japan that we are talking about here and, as far as the traditional Production Studios are concerned, their main source of revenue, the Blue-Ray/DVD sales, are dropping.
And, even though many anime studios now are earning substantial sums from online streaming licensing deals on platforms like Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc. But still, the physical Blue-Ray/DVD sales make up a huge portion of the anime Studio's profit.
And when the main source of revenue starts dropping, no matter how profitable an anime series is, even when compared to other anime franchises. A Japanese Studio is more likely to drop an anime if the sales start to stagger.
It is quite normal in the anime industry because in order to produce an anime adaptation, anime studios need to commit their resources in production and initial preparation, at least one year before they even start animating the show.
Adapting an anime is at least a year and a half long commitment by the Studio, and this time, the David Productions Staff seems to have gone through an unfortunate event. Which is even more concerning, to say the least.
Google translated this tweet in a weird manner, but here, what the credited animation director of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind and all the previous Seasons of JoJo, Kohei Ashiya, is trying to say is that even two months after the last episode of Golden Wind aired, he did not get paid.
After his tweet, the Producers did send him the expected payments, but Kohei emphasized that the being unpaid even long after the animation, or even work on the anime has finished, the Staff members of anime studios do not get paid properly and in some cases like his, not at all in a year-long anime run.
It was after he came out publicly and used his position as the art director, the producers took notice, and the current state of the David Productions with this going on it does not look good.
The passion can only get you so far, and even though the Studio went all out, animating Golden Wind, and the western reception was fantastic, but the disc sales in Japan do not reflect that at all. The manga will still get animated, but it would not be on the same level of quality and intricacy as Golden Wind.
If the anime trends are anything to go by, we, the fans, will probably get a much-lowered quality animation going forward. And because of the delays due to the global pandemic, if the Studio still wants to maintain the quality and even go above and beyond for JoJo Part 6, the fans can expect the adaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean no sooner than or April or October of 2022.
